Microbiologist Elizabeth Hazen (b. #OTD 1885) & chemist Rachel Brown were granted a patent for Nystatin, an anti-fungal med in 1957. In 2016, it was the 217th most prescribed medication in the US w/ >2MM prescriptions. They gave all $13.4MM in royalties to a fund that heavily supported #WomenInSTEM

I cannot see a dead fish as a "conservation success". Bluefin tuna are still rare - they only avoid being technically endangered cos they stabilised at a tiny number. That's not a healthy population, just a stable one. Let them breed and really do well before you fish for them if you have to.

5 years today since daughter's radical hysterectomy for ovarian cancer. She needed 2 surgeries thanks to Women's Health Kaiser doctors' ineptitude. So glad she had an excellent surgical oncologist for 2nd surgery. Thankful for my girl & lots of good thoughts for her always. F*ck Kaiser Roseville.
