FFS I thought we'd moved past the ignorance of illustrating stories about deadly heatwaves with photos of people frolicking at the beach/in lakes/in fountains. Heatwaves are the deadliest agents of climate change. They kill nearly half a million people each year, and that's only going to increase.

Since I haven't seen it on here: European Quadball Cup Division 2 is coming to Basel this weekend! Games are starting at 9 on Saturday and 8.30 Sunday, and if you can't make it there, there's a livestream too (with yours truly doing some camera handling)

Oops, I #DIDIt again... changed some digital habits that is. When checking my data after changing OSes last month I realized a lot of music I stream is stuff I already own. Put that back on my phone, got good ol' VLC Player again... As for new stuff, buying it somewhere that pays artists better.

8vim thoughts, btw: got the hang of this surprisingly quickly! Can definitely see myself using this for quick note taking, but probably not as a daily driver (too used to Heliboard's easy punctuation/special characters on long press thing and need 3 languages with different special characters)

Had been holding off on moving to Linux on my desktop because of decades-old BUT MY GAMES so far. Just in time for this month's Digital Independence Day I finally #DIDIt and am now happily running CachyOS and spending the weekend thoroughly testing my games. You know. For science.

When it was announced that #ESCMIDGlobal2026 was going to be in Munich, a couple of us at OUH's Department of Clinical Microbiology thought "wouldn't it be fun to take the night train?" So that's what we're doing...and it netted us two Green Travel Awards for covering 1100 km by train 🎉🚄
