I was fortunate enough to get to see Talarico today. And what struck me the most was that there is a staffer who’s job it seemed to only be to say “James it’s time to go, we cannot shake every one’s hands, we cannot take selfies with everyone” and that endears a politician to me.

This is a silly frustration, but I really really want companies to know what an Advent Calendar is. If it starts on December 1st and counts to Christmas Day, it’s an Advent Calendar. If it is counting the 12 days from Christmas to Epiphany, it is not an Advent Calendar.

The last farmers market of the season was this morning. I gave Little Bit a budget of $10 to spend in ones. We worked on looking at the signs to see if things were in budget and making decisions on what she wanted to buy. The shop owners loved it and helped her in learning.

It’s “Decades Day” at Little Bit’s school tomorrow, and my Mother In Law came through with these authentic 90’s girls dresses.

Disney offers Princess makeovers at both their parks and on their cruises. We have one booked for Little Bit for her 5th birthday. They charge anywhere from $100-$350 for the dresses, or you can bring your own. Mama’s cue to say “hold my needle!” One Belle dress, some assembly required.

Turns out if your local community theatre offers adult musical theatre jazz classes, you can just sign up for those. Will you be in a class with mostly high school students? Yes. Will you still have fun and move, stretch, and get your heart rate up? Also YES!

When a friend asks for a Pot of Beans for a local fundraiser, and you are a member of the Rancho Gordo Bean Club, it is your solem duty to provide a delicious pot of beans!

Little Bit’s favorite game recently is “Brave Knight” where she asks us what dangers need to be fought in the kingdom. And sometimes Mama’s brain can’t come up with more monsters. Luckily WotC has my back.

@mithradatesvi.bsky.social hates when I do “Mommy Blog” recipes. But I counter with two things, first NYT and ATK recipe developers don’t make dump and bake casseroles. Second Little Bit went back for thirds on tonight’s cheesy chicken and rice bake.

Keeping up with the hair products of a 4 1/2 year old who’s Grandma loves trinkets is a bit of a chore. Before and After!

Little Bit was sad because she wanted to attack Papa, but he was outside and she didn’t want to put shoes on. So I taught her the term “ambush.”

It wouldn’t be the morning of the comic convention if we couldn’t find a piece of a costume! Somehow the hat for @mithradatesvi.bsky.social has gone completely a-wall in the 10 days since I finished it.

We are to the point in summer where making the meal plan for the week is torture, I don’t want to think about anything that creates heat, but also I need to plan and buy food for us to eat.

My new parenting strategy, when bouncing off the walls, remove the walls if possible. This is what brings us to the neighborhood park at 10:30 on a Sunday Morning.

Our current day care uses an app to keep parents informed. The local school district uses the same app for their extended school day and tuition based pre-k, which Little Bit is starting soon. Which would be great! Except now she has 3 profiles in this app that cannot be merged. 😖

Our team is playing like they don’t want to win this.

I’ve seen a lot of discussion on other platforms about Millenial Moms realizing they are no longer Andy, but Andy’s Mom with the release of Toy Story 5. But this happened for me last November with Little Bit started really playing with my old Samantha doll, and it’s a good thing.

How are we exchanging contact information in 2026? I’m going to a conference soon, not for work but I am going to hopefully meet people and grow my network. Should I print up business cards? Create a QR code? Do people actually use iphone’s share contact feature?

Last fall I went to a Kansas City Current soccer game for my sister’s birthday, and I got a Chawinga bobble head. Tomorrow Little Bit gets to start her first soccer practice, so I started this morning with a highlight real of goals by the team this season to show her about the game.

I was volunteering with an event tonight that had 25 tables of people checking in, and for some reason the check in sheet was sorted by “guest number” which nobody knew. Someone asked me why it wasn’t alphabetically by last name and I just said “not my data set, not my excel sheet”

The local community college in our small town offers a free jazz concert series in June, there are probably 300 people out here enjoying a lovely evening. Ages 6 months to probably 80 year olds. This is what I mean when I say we need more 3rd spaces.
