Keeping up with the hair products of a 4 1/2 year old who’s Grandma loves trinkets is a bit of a chore. Before and After!

Little Bit was sad because she wanted to attack Papa, but he was outside and she didn’t want to put shoes on. So I taught her the term “ambush.”
It wouldn’t be the morning of the comic convention if we couldn’t find a piece of a costume! Somehow the hat for @mithradatesvi.bsky.social has gone completely a-wall in the 10 days since I finished it.
We are to the point in summer where making the meal plan for the week is torture, I don’t want to think about anything that creates heat, but also I need to plan and buy food for us to eat.
My new parenting strategy, when bouncing off the walls, remove the walls if possible. This is what brings us to the neighborhood park at 10:30 on a Sunday Morning.
Ponyo, Ponyo, Ponyo, fishy in the sea Tiny little fishy, who could you really be? Finished sewing Little Bit’s Ponyo costume!
Little Bit wants to be Ponyo for the local comic convention, and I refuse to buy a new pattern for the bloomers. So I hope this works! #justcosplaythings #modifyabasicpattern
Our current day care uses an app to keep parents informed. The local school district uses the same app for their extended school day and tuition based pre-k, which Little Bit is starting soon. Which would be great! Except now she has 3 profiles in this app that cannot be merged. 😖
"Yes, I do need another sticker from my local bookstore." *Purchases sticker* *Immediately puts sticker into a special sticker box, never to be seen again*
Our team is playing like they don’t want to win this.
I’ve seen a lot of discussion on other platforms about Millenial Moms realizing they are no longer Andy, but Andy’s Mom with the release of Toy Story 5. But this happened for me last November with Little Bit started really playing with my old Samantha doll, and it’s a good thing.
How are we exchanging contact information in 2026? I’m going to a conference soon, not for work but I am going to hopefully meet people and grow my network. Should I print up business cards? Create a QR code? Do people actually use iphone’s share contact feature?
Last fall I went to a Kansas City Current soccer game for my sister’s birthday, and I got a Chawinga bobble head. Tomorrow Little Bit gets to start her first soccer practice, so I started this morning with a highlight real of goals by the team this season to show her about the game.
I was volunteering with an event tonight that had 25 tables of people checking in, and for some reason the check in sheet was sorted by “guest number” which nobody knew. Someone asked me why it wasn’t alphabetically by last name and I just said “not my data set, not my excel sheet”
The local community college in our small town offers a free jazz concert series in June, there are probably 300 people out here enjoying a lovely evening. Ages 6 months to probably 80 year olds. This is what I mean when I say we need more 3rd spaces.
Hype yourself up as if you are a 4 year old who just won an “Invisible Golden Medal” at cornhole while waiting for a table a brunch. 🏅
There’s a wildfire about 3 miles from my house and headed my general direction. My go bags are ready, the plan is in place. I’ve got Adele’s 21 on the record player, which @macaronbaker.bsky.social tells me is “a bit on the nose.”
Driving home from my bookstore run at lunch, I bet I could get a page or two in at this red light, no, bad, do not read book while driving! #dungeoncrawlercarl #suportlocalbookstores #aparadeofhorribles #releaseday
Little Bit has been playing with her toy kitchen and also been watching lot of SciShow Kids. This morning she explained in detail how to take geleiten and melt it in hot water, and then let it cool down to make a jelly treat. We’ve never made jello with her, she learned all of this from SciShow.
Most of Little Bits’s “When I grow up” statements follow along the lines of “I’ll take my kids, and do the same thing we have done as a family” And I think that feels like winning at parenting with @mithradatesvi.bsky.social
ModCloth’s designs this season lean heavily into the 1940’s vibes. I guess if we have to fight fascism we might as well do it in fashion!
We have been shopping for a new car and Little Bit knows this. Out of nowhere this evening “When I grow up, I’ll buy a car in my kids favorite color” Too bad for her not very many hybrid SUV’s come in her favorite color.
Cupcakes for Little Bit’s school Easter egg hunt!
We’ve been playing a lot of Pokopia, and this morning I’ve found what would be needed to create my ideal habitat.
My brother in law thought this was the Pinterest concept board for what I wanted to make, rather than a pic of the finished cake. Shared birthday; Minecraft for 11 y/o, candy for 4 y/o. The eyes on the 4 year old were like dinner plates when we cut into it and candy tumbled out the middle.
Birthday cake for 2 nephews in progress. 1/2 the cake will be decorated with candy, hopefully with M&M “confetti” center for the almost 4 year old. The other 1/2 will be Minecraft for the almost 11 year old.
In honor of international women’s day, this Outback Steakhouse is playing women’s sports on 2 of their 3 TVs.
To the point of the weekend where I suggest to @mithradatesvi.bsky.social that we just stop eating food and wearing clothes, because there would be so many fewer household tasks.
Just throwing this out there, can we retroactively re-assign the Oscar from a mediocre film about Shakespeare and give it to a devastating film about Shakespeare? Just a thought #hamnet
