Missed out on the @lner.co.uk @225group.org.uk #225day, so a few days late here is something for #255day. 91117 "Project Electra" sits in the middle of the unusual OHL Test train with a 43 at either end - testing the electrification systems in the Severn Tunnel. #trainlogger trainlogger.co.uk
Ah I missed #225day yesterday, apologies but I do remember these coming in as a kid and to celebrate #225day here is some of my favourite photos I have taken over the years. #york #leeds #photooftheday #lner #inctercity225 #yorkshire #railway #railwayfamily #photography @225group.org.uk @lner.co.uk
Yesterday was incredibly fun! It was amazing to see so many people enjoying such a brilliant train! Got to do some social media work for the @225group.org.uk and enjoyed the rest of the day bouncing from city to city The daytime Bradford IC225 rounded off the day perfectly. Fabulous! 😁 #225Day

We've had an excellent day! Many thanks to @lner.co.uk for inviting us on 1A30 today, we appreciate the time and effort put in by LNER and the traincrew to make the occasion truly special! #225Day
Our onboard stall and LNER's merch from the buffet have both done exceptionally well, we don't have much left onboard! There's always plenty of gifts you can buy from our store online: shop.225group.org.uk #225Day
What a stunning day for it too! Nameplate (and 225 day logo) designed by me, on behalf of LNER, with a little quirk... Different nameplates on each side, so the swallow icon sits on the 'leading edge' of the plate, pointed forwards, as it used to be on the original Inter-City 225 livery 😉👍
More pictures of the newly named 91106 “Swallow”? Well why not! Here are some lovely detail shots from Neville Hill depot in Leeds yesterday afternoon, captured by Jonny Dye. Check out that gorgeous InterCity swallow on the grille! 😍 #225Day #TeamNL @lner.co.uk
Happy #225Day! Great to see these majestic machines still in service 35 years on from their launch. Definitely check out @225group.org.uk if you’re interested in helping them maybe preserve one!
A fabulous museum curated by the wonderful Tim Dunn has opened on board 1A30! He's seen chatting to Paul who has worked these trains since their introduction in 1989. Check out that InterCity 225 phone brought for the occasion by Aidan, our lovely Admin Assistant! #225Day
One of our directors Ben has received some jelly beans from LNER, delivered in a replica 91106 "Swallow". Prints and bagels have been flying off in the buffet too! #225Day
Want to see more special days like today's 225 day? Don't forget to pick up a membership! Without these, days like today wouldn't be possible. membership.225group.org.uk
91106 has been formally named Swallow at Leeds. We're ready to go on 1A30 to London and look forward to seeing you onboard! 📷 Will Quibell

We're loving the special window labels @lner.co.uk have produced for today! It evokes many memories of the Intercity 225, but what are your most fond memories of these trains? Share them with us! 📷 ontspanners
91110 "Battle of Britain Memorial Flight" is snapped under blue skies on the 3rd of April 2023 with a service to Leeds. Of course, it's the classic north end of Platform 3, Doncaster photo... But not the best one I've ever taken here. #225day @lner.co.uk @225group.org.uk
Tomorrow is the first @lner.co.uk #225Day - a celebration of the mighty InterCity 225 🎉 The star of the show will be a newly named Class 91 locomotive! Following a brief unveiling ceremony at Leeds, it will work 1A30 (the 1245 to King’s Cross, arriving 1500). 📷 Alex Hay
Could you help us illustrate an article for our next magazine? We're looking for pictures of: ➡️ Dr Michael Reece, Director of GEC Research Ltd ➡️ 1S31 (the 1500 KGX to GLC) in 1997 ➡️ 91013 in GNER livery Please email contact@225group.org.uk if you have any! 📷 Jim Binnie
📅 Grab your diary! Thursday 22 May - 22.05.2025 - will mark the first #225Day. Alongside celebrations on @lner.co.uk InterCity 225 services, a newly named Class 91 locomotive will enter traffic. More information will follow, but we hope to see you on the route! 📷 Colin J Marsden
LNER plans to run its remaining Class 91s 'blunt end first' from the May 2025 timetable change. The change has come about because components in the 'blunt end' cab have faced less wear and tear and LNER hopes this will reduce maintenance costs as the locomotives enter their final years on the ECML.
RIP John 'Paddy' Hemingway, the last surviving Battle of Britain pilot, who died yesterday aged 105. 91110, part of @lner.co.uk's InterCity 225 fleet, serves as a moving tribute to Gp Capt Hemingway and all those who fought courageously and selflessly for freedom. 📷 Gareth Griffiths
37 years ago tonight, at 2200 on 14 February 1988, British Rail signed off the formal acceptance for the first Class 91. That very locomotive, now numbered 91101, was in service with @lner.co.uk today. Here it is ready to work a rake of Mark 3 coaches to Leeds in June 1989, captured by Carl Looker.
Following The Greatest Gathering’s exciting announcement about London North Eastern Railway’s 91110 ‘Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’ attending The Greatest Gathering this August, we thought we’d celebrate by sharing some of our favourite shots of this iconic loco! 🚆✨
