Capital punishment is cruel and unusual punishment and has no place in a civilized nation. But even if you don’t object to it on moral grounds, the number of times we have botched convictions AND executions should be enough to convince you that it should be abolished.

Here‘s your reminder that Speaker Mike Johnson sent the House home early so they wouldn’t have to vote on Pete Hegseth’s impeachment before the midterms. Republicans were terrified that they’d have to face voters and explain why they were covering for a racist, sexist, war-losing piece of crap.

BREAKING: MS NOW EXCLUSIVE. Republican Eric Schmitt was warned about the Jack Smith texts. He used them anyway. GOP Judiciary staff told Schmitt the texts — obtained from the Trump DOJ — were "unvetted." Schmitt still used them.

Eric Schmitt was warned about the Jack Smith texts. He used them anyway.

As Republicans on Capitol Hill try to figure out how Eric Schmitt’s bombshell fell apart so embarrassingly, it turns out he was warned that the texts were unvetted.

Ossoff: "You played earlier the tape of Mike Collins, a sitting member of Congress and the Republican candidate for senate in Georgia, supporting the deployment of federal troops to polling places in Georgia this fall. Folks, this is a 5 alarm fire."

Nashville Banner reporter Steven Hale, describing how prison officials kept drawing the curtain to hide how badly they were botching this: “A lot of this execution — or attempted execution, whatever it was — happened when we could not see what was going on.”

To put this in perspective, one hour of wages at the federal minimum buys you about one pound of ground beef. One hour of wages at the Seattle minimum buys you about *three* pounds. Same ratio for a gallon of diesel.

In 2027 Seattle's minimum wage will be $22.14 per hour. That's more than THREE TIMES the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour—a rate that hasn't been raised since 2009. And yet somehow we're not the jobless wasteland orthodox economics would predict. Weird.

Incredible. The 11th Circuit, in a 3-0 opinion (two Obama appointees and one Trump 1.0 appointee), agrees that Trump and his lawyers have failed to rebut the judge's finding that the entire IRS settlement was collusive, highlighting that no other explanation for their conduct was even offered.

IV
The appellants mount two main attacks on the district
court’s speech-related sanction. First, they argue that the court
lacked a sufficient basis to find that the lawsuit and the settlement
were collusive and that Messrs. Brito and Epstein acted in bad faith.
Second, they contend that the sanction is a broad and impermissible gag order which constitutes a prior restraint and violates the
First Amendment. We conclude that the appellants have not made
a strong showing that they will succeed on either of these grounds. The appellants did not submit or offer any evidence to explain their litigation conduct or demonstrate that the lawsuit and the settlement were not collusive. Given the record before us, the
appellants have not made a strong showing that the district court
committed clear error in its collusion and bad faith findings

Eleventh Circuit refuses to block the district court's sanctions order in the "$1.776 billion Weaponization Fund Settlement" case I'm reading through the panel's 22-page decision now... storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Trump is stealing nearly $1 billion from the American people, plain and simple. Republicans don't care. It seems like every time Trump says “stoop” The only response most Republicans can muster is: “How low?”
