At our municipal grocery stores, New Yorkers will get a 30% discount on eggs, milk, chicken, produce and other everyday essentials. In the wealthiest city in the richest country in the world, no one should have to wonder how they’ll afford the food they need to feed themselves or their families.

A Haitian friend lives is terror as the July 24 deadline for termination of TPS looms. He smiles as he always does but can’t help but look pained, “they will start deportations” he said. This is a man my son runs to from across the street to hug. Not sure how to raise him in this cruel world.

Today I signed an Executive Order for every worker exposed to extreme heat on the job. It requires multilingual heat safety guidance for workers, a review of construction site heat safety practices, and heat illness prevention plans at every mayoral agency.
