AI Data centers are polluting Black and Brown neighborhoods, killing the environment, helping promote misinfo and graphic hate speech, deteriorating the entertainment industry AND destroying the economy, all simultaneously. We don’t need a White liberal solution, we need those centers gone. Period.

it is a very white response of "don't care until I'M affected" so i can't say i'm surprised or disappointed 😒 but until y'all actively fight for more than just this we're never gonna be free from it (bc black people and nonblack poc are constantly sexualized + the first people hit by these policies)

Something that the average person and AI bros fail to understand is that yes while the creative process can be arduous, frustrating, and at times demoralizing, it's by no means an inconvenience that should be skipped. The actual effort required to make something *is* what makes it worthwhile

and it's a large contingent of (usually) v white people who hold on to shit like this so hard it's got nail marks but don't do shit for black people/other nonblack poc who are harmed Immensely by not only this but censorship policies in general (and have been for years).... now what's that called?

Ten years ago the UK government issued a travel advisory for LGBTQIA+ individuals about risks of going to the US partly because of trans bathroom bans. Now we have those bans in UK. This is what I mean by Labour being worse on trans rights than the previous government.

UK warns gay travellers about US anti-LGBT laws

21 April 2016

Protesters called for governors of both states to repeal the laws

The UK government has warned gay and transgender travellers to be careful in the US due to legislation in North Carolina and Mississippi. In North Carolina, legislation passed by Governor Pat McCrory invalidates previously passed legislation from Charlotte, that state's largest city, that enacted LGBT protections.

His new law states that transgender people must use public bathrooms according to the gender on their birth certificates. Mississippi's law has a similar bathroom provision and also protects dozens of forms of businesses and services from being prosecuted by the government for refusing to serve LGBT people.

It is "both frightening and embarrassing that one of our nation's staunchest allies has warned its citizens of the risks" of travelling to the US, said Ty Cobb of the Human Rights Campaign.

"It is now more clear than ever that these terrible measures are not only harming individuals and taking an economic toll on the states, but are also causing serious damage to our nation's reputation, and the perceived safety of LGBT people who travel here."
