I increasingly feel like being able to publicly share our immediate reaction so easily is not good for us. That dopamine hit of self-righteousness seems to override critical thought, empathy, everything.
The episode was really good but I slightly disagree with John's take on this. De Gaulle's legitmacy & freedom of action really does rest on the fact that he had brought in by the politicians to stop the coup.

But if there are literally paratroopers prepping to drop on the capital, with tanks waiting to roll into Paris then it is not a Sparkling Emergency Prime Minister appointment It is a coup, from the coup region of France.
'Starmer's failure is because we're post-material' is one of those analyses that you only believe if you flatly ignore who 'the remaining Labour voters in May 2026 were' and 'who the voters Labour lost under Starmer were'.

But I think he also misses *why* the vibe was off.

Especially, seeing it was coined by someone who failed at both knife-wielding and crown-wearing. Looking at most recent examples, he who wields the knife almost invariably wears the crown.
Found guilty on 115 counts though. That’s 15 counts more than their highest point return.

Instead, each BBC region going down to two dedicated, multi-platform correspondents (generalists, not specialists). Will no doubt prompt concerns about reduced local knowledge and expertise. Story coming.
The FCG is just as dumb as rocks. I like SFG but fell behind on season passes after S1. Now I face £75 to catch up. If Capcon did SSF6 then they'd have to do a load of additional work to justify the new release while barely being able to charge more than half the cost of base SF6 + 4 season passes
