In a new paper, @royaizadi.bsky.social and I show that military involvement in the economy lowers the risk of mutinies. Military businesses lead to rent-seeking among the rank-and-file, and soldiers are loathe to risk access to private goodies. journals.sagepub.com/doi/epub/10....
