In our June issue, we debuted our new format for highlighting books in urban sociology: City Books! 📚 To learn more, we go straight to the source, asking authors what's exciting, unusual, or even controversial about their book. We've gotten great answers we're excited to share with you.

One of our first City Books is @jbrownsaracino.bsky.social's The Death and Life of Gentrification, which considers the changing meaning of gentrification and the implications of its use to describe a variety of urban processes.

Jessica Simes (jtsimes.bsky.social) is joining CiCo as an Associate Editor! Her work examines how the carceral system shapes inequality and health. Her award-winning book, Punishing Places, uses spatial analysis to show how incarceration impacts communities. We’re honored to have her on the team!
