Over the past week I’ve gone by train from Brussels to Budapest via Berlin, without having my ticket checked once. DB also maintained 100% record of all trains delayed / cancelled

Richard K Broughton@richardkbroughton.bsky.social · 5mo agoIn 1970s, scientists at Institute of Terrestrial Ecology planted this plot of carefully chosen Silver Birches at Monks Wood. Staff turnover and pre-digital age meant records lost and now we've got no idea what the experiment was. So today it's a small birch wood getting wilder, with a lost history!
Can't overstate the importance of recognising the drone strike as an attack on shared history and universal heritage. As well as damaging the monastery, it nearly struck the archive that documents 900 years' worth of Lviv's widely shared history.
