Hopecore author. SLATTERY FALLS TRILOGY🏚️ BUZZARD’S EDGE SAGA🤠 THE DENIZENS 🧟‍♂️ ILLUSIONS OF ISOLATION 👻. He/Him.

Horror Hive Mind, give me a hand with something? What are some books that use extended (at least 2 pages) excerpts from fictitious non-fiction books for narrative purposes? I’m looking for some formatting inspiration.

We had to say goodbye to my Benny today. He had seven wonderful years with us and passed at home in the sunshine with all of us around him, so loved. My heart hurts, but he’s at peace. Rest well, sweet boy.

I wrote about depictions of witches and what text and subtext can reveal about the cultural anxieties behind these iconic figures. The title is Emily's atrocity, which she foisted on me like a deadly disease and for which I will never forgive her.

today on @darkertimes.bsky.social: I *love* this essay from the inimitable @scumbelievable.bsky.social on witches on film and text, subtext, power, and worldview: www.darkertimes.com/witches-worl...

I’ve been doling out Partially Devoured by Daniel Kraus piece by piece. What a gorgeous, affecting mix of unapologetically ardent fandom and thoughtful dissection. Kraus argues Night’s place in the center of horror’s heart and wraps it up with a stunning case for the timeliness of a timeless film.

Call them zombies, walkers, ghouls, neighbors, the undead, the living dead, revenants, or denizens. Just don’t call them late for dinner. Whatever you call them, you’ve never seen them like this. THE DENIZENS - out now in ebook and paperback.

Life has been lifing hard enough to make me forget what the date was. So I’m a little late, but 5 years ago on July 20th, 2021, I was celebrating my very first book baby at jury duty with a bunch of strangers who could not have cared less.

Starting a sentence with “And” or “But” is like starting a musical phrase with a pickup note. A terrific touch to trampoline the melody into motion that loses its effect when you overuse it.

Saratoga Schaeffer is now responsible for two of my favorite reads of 2026. A Thousand Monstrous Forms is modern gothic love letter to traditional gothic (and fairy tale) brimming with paranoia, genuine creeps, and relationship dynamics that drive the story. Tense and chilling throughout.
