One of the least-performed of Prokofiev's ballets, “On the Dnieper” (Op. 51, 1930-31) is worth a listen. Especially if you’re into deep cuts. classical.music.apple.com/ca/recording...

thank you also for those disappointments and failures
Lovely article on Spencer Miles: “Twelve months ago, Miles was still recovering from Tommy John surgery. He hadn’t thrown a competitive pitch since June 2024, and he had never pitched above the Single-A level.” www.mlb.com/news/spencer...
Miles was a Rule 5 long shot. Now, he's an indispensable Blue Jays arm

“You know, Hazel, when I saw it was Daniel Aloysius Lynch IV, I said to myself, I gotta just stay in my legs, see it deep, let the barrel do the work if he makes a mistake middle-in.”
2025: They’re the best team in baseball!!!!!! 2026: They’re above .500!!!!
Yesterday the Royals started pitcher Daniel Aloysius Lynch IV against the Jays, and we won. Today the Royals had a homer against the Jays from a man named John Rave. We still won. How can you not be romantic about baseball.
My essay on the Kawhi Leonard saga, the Aspiration carbon fraud, and the financial instruments that tie it all together — caps, from NBA salary caps to carbon caps. Dig in. unstableequilibria.substack.com/p/kawhi-caps...
Kawhi, Caps, and Carbon
The NBA’s salary cap held. The voluntary carbon cap never existed.

“Guerrero’s not getting the big hits, but he’s cheering on his teammates!” — Apple TV MLB coverage of Jays v Mariners
What we all really want is for Peyton Williams to get called up to Toronto from the Buffalo Bisons for an interleague series against the Pittsburgh Pirates so that we can see Bubba Chandler face The Iowa Meat Truck.
In case you’re wondering how Daniel Aloysius Lynch IV has fared against, say, Mookie Betts: Mookie Betts is 1-for-5 against Daniel Aloysius Lynch IV in 8 career plate appearances, with a homer, 2 RBIs, 2 walks, and a sac fly. That’s .200/.375/.800. Not investment advice. Nor spiritual advice.
