When The Clock Broke By @lioneltrolling.bsky.social is a masterpiece. I came of age in the 90’s and so I am aware of most of these stories but I don’t think the avg person gets how much of history is rhyming right now. Rodney king and George Floyd Ross Perot and Elon musk It’s nuts. 1/2

Officers had to look tough, they had to look imposing, they had to look professional to represent the idea of an elite praetorian guard for society. This was part of their marketing to the public, as Parker had put it. The beating of Rodney King was its own kind of propaganda, in keeping with the LAPD's image, a propaganda of the deed: this was a message, a statement that this is what will happen to you. It was a message delivered many times before, but it was not meant to be seen by the entirety of the public, that stuff was just to be known about by certain communities.
