Ever wondered what happens at one camera-trap site over almost two years? 🐻🦌🐺 We compiled all images (~5000) from one Site in the Polish Tatra National Park into a 14 min. film. Watch from 10.2024 to 08.2026. 🎥🌲Polish: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyGY... English: www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2Aj...

A glimpse into the wildlife of the Oder Delta 🦌📸 Our camera traps keep capturing the animals that move through this remarkable landscape. Here are a few recent highlights!

🐻🐺🦌🦊The next batch of camera-trap images from Tatra National Park is now ready for classification in our WildINTEL - European Camera Trap Project. 🐻🐺🦌🦊 Ready for another round? 👀 💚 👉 www.zooniverse.org/projects/wil... #WildINTEL #CitizenScience #Zooniverse

Successful WildINTEL and Big_Picture Symposium at ECCB2026 @eccb26leiden.bsky.social @scbeurope.bsky.social

📢 Join WildINTEL and BIG_PICTURE at ECCB 2026 in Leiden! Symposium: 7 July 2026 (14:30-18:00) 📸 Upscaling camera-trapping – integrating professional and citizen efforts for continental-scale monitoring of Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs) @scbeurope.bsky.social @eccb26leiden.bsky.social ‬

An unexpected partnership in the Doñana National Park! An Iberian magpie (Cyanopica cooki) travelling with/on a fallow deer (Dama dama). These intelligent birds are often seen following large mammals, feeding on insects. A fascinating example of wildlife interactions captured by our camera traps.

🐺📸 When the model knows exactly where the camera is. These wolves from the Oder Delta (Poland) delivered a perfect pose for our camera trap. While most wildlife pass by unnoticed, some seem determined to leave us with a memorable portrait.

📸🦅 Not all of our best camera trap images feature the species we're studying. These birds from the Oder Delta and Doñana National Park may not be part of our research focus, but they certainly know how to pose for the camera!

🦌 🇵🇱 🇪🇸 🦌Same species, very different worlds. These red deer were photographed by our camera traps in two of Europe's most iconic protected areas: the Tatra National Park and Doñana National Park.

While our project focuses on mammals and larger wildlife, our cameras occasionally capture nice close-ups of smaller creatures going about their tiny but important lives.🦋🕷️🪰🐝

🌟 Thank you to our incredible WildINTEL European-Camera-Trap-Project volunteers! Every classification helps us identify wildlife, monitor populations, and support conservation across Europe. Whether you've tagged 1 image or 1,000, your contribution matters. 🔗 www.zooniverse.org/projects/wil...

🚨Tomorrow, 19.05.2026 at 11:00 AM 📢we will add new images to our Zooniverse project, the European Camera Trap Project, including, for the first time, material from the Oder Delta, our third study area. 📷🌿

We are fortunate that our workplace in Madrid is located in the Royal Botanical Garden (Real Jardín Botánico) and that we had the opportunity to visit it 🌳🌴🌵🌲.

WildINTEL partners are meeting in Madrid for the project’s midterm meeting to review progress and discuss the next steps in advancing EBVs monitoring with camera-trap data.

🎥 Short film created from 3,000+ cam trap images in 3 days. 🌬 Clouds. Wind. Mountains 🏔. A least one animal passed by 🥳.

Snow-covered forests in the Tatra Mountains. Even without wildlife, winter reshapes the landscape in remarkable ways. ❄️🌲

🎉WildINTEL & BigPicture Symposium on Camera Trapping Accepted for ECCB 2026. We are pleased to announce that WildINTEL, together with the BigPicture project , has been accepted to host a symposium at the European Congress of Conservation Biology (ECCB 2026), to be held in Leiden, Netherlands.

We had the chance to share the WildIntel project at the XVII SECEM Congress! 🙌 Nuria Selva presented the project, and Santiago Gutiérrez showcased Doñana findings on predator–prey links between European rabbits, Iberian hares, and mesocarnivores. 🐇🦊

New publication from our team🎉 besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdfdirec... We benchmarked citizen science vs. EfficientNet & DeepFaune on 51,588 camera-trap images. Citizen science had high precision but variable recall; AI improved recall for several species, yet both were weaker at night.
