On the subject of books to read for comfort, the 4 paladin books have been keeping me sane this summer. ["Paladin's Grace" I have described as "my catnip," and the other 3 are just as damn delightful] I am so so so grateful for @tkingfisher.com writing as prolifically *and* about being a good human.
I am *delighted* that @tkingfisher.com has a bluesky account so I can sing her praises. My child ADORES Harriet Hamsterbone (as do I). Today on the yotoDaily quiz, to my question of "who is wilbur" (re: Charlotte's Web), he shouted, "Harriet's friend!" Anyway, read her books. *Goddamn paladins.*
My child has 30 minutes of reading homework every night for the month of September, which is just slightly more than we do organically if I had to guess. I think 30 minutes is hard for sitting still, so much of the reading is to a wiggling kid. Who is still absorbing the story and remembers details.
