The history of AI development is not rooted in neutral algorithms, but in entrenched systems of power that shape our lives. @ghostdoc2026.bsky.social dives into this history, interrogating who builds this tech, who benefits from it, and who bears the cost.

“'Over the last year, one of the things that has honestly really surprised me is just how quickly this particular movement has taken off,’ DeAngelis [a 3rd grader teacher and member of the AIM Coalition] said. 'It’s reflective of what parents and teachers are seeing in their schools.’”

Hello Comics, Kidlit, and Librarian Friends! The folks at Macmillan are putting together a list of people to receive a digital advanced copy of the first book of ISAAC AND PEARL, my early reader graphic novel series. Would you like one?? Reply below. :D

color drawing of two cat siblings (anthropomorphized, standing on two legs, wearing clothes.) The taller / older one is pointing at a cloud that looks like a horse. The younger / shorter one is holding up a toy horse. We are seeing them from behind.

This is a great overview of the available research on handwritten notes in school contexts. I remember the phase maybe a decade or so ago where the message was that handwritten notes were "better." It's knew it was more complicated than this, because it always is. substack.com/inbox/post/2...

These feel like, not seen the specific case, the opposite logic to those proud of their personal best at the gym. Yes, you lifted 120kg, such good work tbh. Not with a forklift. With your own body. Let's bring this back to thinking, organising, drawing, etc. Enjoy actually being good at something.

Really tried of the genre of bsky discourse that goes: "Here is an incredibly pointless thing I use LLMs for, now please bsky be normal about it." >>

Is this correct? “In the EU, one can opt out of their public Instagram posts being used to train ai products, but in the US, that’s not an option.”

This is like the car industry refusing to make anything other than stretch humvees and saying "OH I GUESS WE'LL JUST TAKE AWAY ALL THE TAXIS THEN, SEE HOW YOU LIKE THAT"

Do you have resources that help someone make a design accessible? Current workflow that is failing me... Adobe Express as original source, but the exported PDF is not in any kind of logical reading order. Tags are right, reading order panel is wrong, but changing anything breaks it!

This is a case study in pro-AI propaganda, and annoying enough to inspire a Saturday thread: bsky.app/profile/bren... 🧵>>

Interesting @jeremiahdjohns.bsky.social piece on the dogmatism of the "Believe Science" crew who publicly proclaim their fidelity to science while not practicing what they preach, including falling victim to the anti-AI moral panic www.theargumentmag.com/p/the-heresy...
