In 1986, contracting HIV meant you were going to die, usually slowly, painfully, and alone. Now it's a chronic illness like hypertension. In 1986, gay and lesbian couples couldn't have their relationships legally recognized and had to adopt elaborate legal workarounds.
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
He also "planned" a working moon mission by 2024 & we're still in the "sometimes it doesn't crash" stage of that process. Stop reporting on any tech bro CEO's claims as if they are facts, especially in outlets connected to our shared collective hallucination called "the economy". CONTEXTUALIZE SHIT.

I’ve been screening our documentary with organizing communities in the South. So far, the organizers mention data centers first at every single event. From racial justice orgs to old school activists who don’t usually think about tech policy. This has legs.
Any AES supporter would have been thrilled with a win of any margin as recently as a month ago. A few late polls showing a bigger lead shouldn’t change that reality. He won against the Dem establishment and $62M of PAC money. He was barely on the radar when he entered the race.
I didn’t think AES even realistically had a shot several months ago and now it’s going to be portrayed as a disappointment if he *only* wins by like 2-3% lmao
AES is going up against a member of Congress who was supported by the entire Democratic establishment and had tens of millions of dollars from AIPAC. Polling has given unrealistic expectations about what success looks like. Any win at all is an incredible victory for the left.
When El-Sayed wins I expect everyone to be very normal about it
Aaaaaaaand AP just called the Kansas U.S. Senate Democratic primary for Rev. Adam Hamilton, so now there is, indeed, six. Not surprising (he was breaking fundraising records), but notable all the same. (And possibly one more pastor nominee by night’s end — we’ll see.)
"Pastors in Name Only" "Wicked Witch of Woke" “I've never seen anyone commit so much blasphemy against the word of God." As pastors become Democratic nominees — at least 5 so far, and likely one more tonight — their Republican opponents are attacking their faith. religionnews.com/2026/08/04/p...
Hey so just checking BEFORE we have results in the MI primary, Vote Blue No Matter Who right, establishment? RIGHT? So like when I try to convince my fellow lefties we have a moral obligation to vote for the boring normie dem, y'all are gonna get on board with El-Sayed, right? RIGHT?
By almost any reasonable standard, Abdul is wildly different than Platner— he’s not an unknown, he’s thoroughly vetted, there’s no allegations or hint of ugliness. The murmured equivalencies were embarrassing for the writers who deployed it.
I'm not irritated by Dirty Work, just by people who buy it. And the "AES is Platner" articles and insinuations were dirty work, and some folks who traded in it are absolute Suckers who should not be heeded going forward.

This isn't to say kids don't need protection; it *is* to say that protection will not come from a panoptic surveillance state that not only their parents but also any predator with a keyboard can franchise into their very own home.
I say again, "These surveillance regimes will not keep you or your children safe because they are actively preying on you": Rather than the predators, people focus on rigidly controlling children's ability to explore the world, from no third spaces to tracked online life, thus making Them targetable
the push for ID checks online is designed to make children easier to target; Meta is one of the companies lobbying for these types of legislation. the whole idea is to continue to target children as a lucrative market by assuring parents that giving children unmanaged tablets is safe.
Clearly I have been falling down on the job - y’all haven’t gotten a dose of ENCHIRITO EAR WIGGLES. Sorry about the camera shake, hard to film one-handed
...how the fuck is it compliant to building codes to have windows that just Do Not Open
i'm extra mad that it seems like these weird hotel style condo/apt setups are the main form of housing in this city that's an actual improvement on what we currently have, unless you can drop 3k/mo+ on a house
god fuck i hate looking at new apartment shit even when money is less of a problem than it's ever been for us, it's like 'no you don't need normal wall space for furniture like bookshelves. also we can tell through our Smart System™ who is home at sll times!! 👁️👄👁️'
Susan Collins announcing she'll vote against a controversial nominee is basically the moment it becomes clear that nominee will be confirmed. It means Thune has enough votes to confirm, and thus, Collins gets a pass to look independent.

mamdani's social media: NYC, today is a monumental day. I've slain Gorlax the Spurious, the beast who lived in the sewers and ate children and small dogs. every conservative thinkpiece article: Slaying Gorlax the Spurious might *sound* appealing, but what if you don't have children or small dogs?
I thought electing Mamdani was going to turn NYC into a communist hellhole?
I really need the people supposedly in opposition to the Republicans to either meaningfully hold them accountable for their naked power grabs— like remove them from power & possibly prosecute them— or start fighting on the same level as them, & I increasingly don't care which, *Which Is A Bad Thing*
The Missouri SoS dragged out his office's examination of the veto referendum (of the GOP gerrymander) for most of 2026 to ensure he can run out the clock; and finally declared today, on the deadline by which he had to act, that he thinks the veto referendum is entirely unconstitutional.
