when artists said this in 2022 they were laughing at us, so 🤷‍♀️ (but realtalk, I'm glad more people are waking up to it now)

Bro I'm so sick of pretending this isn't weird.
The internet spent 20 years creating tutorials, open-source projects, blog posts & answers for free.
Al companies turned all of it into products worth billions.
And now the same people who created that knowledge are being told they're replaceable.
We built the library.
Someone else started charging admission.

FE: Vampire Weekend. (10/30—11/01)@fevampireweekend.bsky.social · 2h ago

Hey 👋 Now that we're coming to the end of #FEvampireweekend we wanted to make a statement regarding the future "Redux" event. Thank you to everyone who assured this event was successful despite circumstances!! Sadly, I must return to being a responsible adult and give up my nocturnal ways. 😔

Announcement:

Firstly, We want to thank the artists and especially authors who have already chosen to share their FE: Vampire Weekend fanworks despite the unfortunate circumstances.

When we envisioned this event six weeks ago, we genuinely weren't certain it'd go anywhere. So getting the privilege of seeing the gradually building excitement of both artists and writers—as well as their WIPs—over the past month and a half, has been an absolute delight. It cannot be overstated how pivotal everyone's participation has been in this events success!

On Thursday Oct 29/2026, when we decided that the show must go, we mentioned that in the (hopefully very) near future we would post a FE: Vampire Weekend "Redux" event. The idea is to allow authors to highlight their efforts, and post their creations, once AO3 has been restored. This is regardless of whether they participated during the 10/30–11/01 event period.

As we still don't have details on when AO3 will be restored to a posting state, we do not have a date for said "Redux" event at this time. However, we anticipate it being ready to launch within days of AO3 coming back online, therefore we wanted to discuss what that will look like.

As many know, the two of us are writers. We understand the anxiety many authors are actively experiencing over what will happen regarding fan interactions on their stories in a few weeks time. These concerns run the gamut: From worries about how sharing now may take away kudos/comments in the future, to that waiting to post may result in less interest because the excitement has worn off, to that their efforts might be lost in the flood of new fics/chapters that will be released.

We want to try to put the authors who participated (both who posted during the event, and those who waited) at ease. When the "Redux" event goes live, we're planning to include a free, community-driven raffle where there will be a limited number of art/writing prizes donated by other members of the FE fandom.

The rough way this would work is that every one(1)* comment made on a story that is part of the AO3 FE: Vampire Weekend collection would be considered one(1) raffle entry. At the end of the event period, names would be compiled and input into a program, such as funraise. Or just done the old fashion way and drawn out of a hat. (It'd be a cowboy hat, if that matters.)

As with everything, more information will follow in the coming days as we flesh out the details! Finally, while we've already had several people graciously volunteer their talents to the prize pool, if anyone is interested in contributing they are free to reach out to Zee (brainwormexpert) for an idea of what we're considering for prizes.

Thanks. 🖤

*clarification: multiple comments by a single person, on the same story would count as one(1) entry in total.

Halloween Byleth from FEH 😈 Bringing back my painting from 2021 to bsky. As you can see, I'll be posting past artwork to share with fire emblem/fe16 sky #fe3h #FireEmblemHeroes #FEH

Male Byleth portrait in the outfit from his Halloween Sothis duo alt in Fire Emblem Heroes. He is dressed as a demon with horns wearing a black and dark gray striped suit, white gloves, a pink cravat, and wings. He has a mischievous facial expression looking to the side as he's biting on a red and white swirly lollipop. A slight bright blue glow behind him highlights his bat-like demon wings in a way that establishes a smoky atmosphere.

To be clear: If you have a fic of mine saved please keep it! If you want a fic of mine please ask! Just please don’t reupload it to FFnet or WattPad or SquidgeWorld or whatever without asking. That is plagiarism. I and all authors work extremely hard on our fics. That is so disrespectful.

I am 100% a believer that you should of course write for yourself first and foremost, but it's absolutely batshit to treat writers--fanfic or otherwise--as somehow selfish or vain for wanting or appreciating acknowledgment.

#mercedue | #FE3H | #fic Happy Halloween! I offer you human Mercedes x vampire Dedue for this lovely #FEvampireweekend 🦇

Mercedes pushed open the window, sighing in relief when the cool air brushed against her skin. “I know Mother said to keep it closed at night,” she said into the silence, “But I can’t stand this stuffy heat any longer! Surely just a moment will be all right…”

Behind her, the shadows lengthened.

Mercedes leaned upon the sill. Her silky white nightgown clung to her body as she peered out into the night. “Ah, but after all that has happened, perhaps Mother is right.” She clasped her hands to her chest, eyes fluttering closed. “I sure hope no big, strong vampires sneak into my room to ravish me!”

The room was silent. Her pronouncement lingered in the still air.

After a long moment, someone coughed politely.

Mercedes let out a muted shriek. She spun around to face the man now standing at the far side of her room. The shadows hid his face, but even in the darkness she could see his broad shoulders and white hair that gleamed like moonlight.

“You…!” She pointed at the stranger with a shaking hand. “You must be the vampire! The one who has seduced countless maidens these past few months! You are, aren’t you?”

The vampire remained in the shadows, his posture straight and stiff. “…Yes,” he said eventually, in a low, flat voice. “I am…he.”

With a delicate gasp, Mercedes swooned onto the nearby daybed. She pressed a hand to her forehead, exposing her long, bare neck and the pale expanse of her bosom, hardly constrained by her nightgown. “Oh my. And now you are here to claim me—a poor, defenseless maiden!”

She watched with bated breath as the vampire finally stepped out from the shadows. The strong lines of his face came into sight, illuminated by the moonlight. He studied her, green eyes flashing even as his expression remained alluringly stern.

“My, but no one mentioned how handsome you are,” Mercedes said breathlessly. The vampire’s cheeks darkened. “Alas! I am thoroughly under your spell, my lord vampire.” She arched her back, noting how his gaze darted from her throat to her chest, before settling resolutely on her face. “I am powerless to resist your charms. Please, just take me now!”

She closed her eyes and waited. Even in the utter silence of the room, Mercedes couldn’t hear the vampire move. But she felt his breath upon her throat, warm and sudden, sending shivers down her spine. Her pulse pounded, bosom heaving with anticipation. Any moment and his fangs would pierce her skin, sharp pain fading into pleasure, and then—

Mercedes cracked open an eye. The vampire was staring at her neck with furrowed brows, so close and yet decidedly not biting into her vulnerable flesh.

“Ahem.” She cleared her throat. “Ah! It would be so easy for a vampire to take advantage of a weak, innocent maiden like me!”

But instead of claiming her, the vampire pressed his lips together and looked away. “I…”

He was uncomfortable. More than she’d realized. In an instant, Mercedes rested her hand upon his face. “Dedue,” she said seriously. “Is something wrong?”

“It is too dangerous,” he said with a stern glance in her direction. “To bite you. Especially your throat. If I lose control…”

Mercedes held in her sigh. It was hardly the first time Dedue had said such things in the months since they’d started dating. He could be quite stubborn when he wanted to be, particularly when it came to his belief that he was a monster. It was rather silly in her opinion, but perhaps he simply needed a reminder of the truth.

“Dear.” Mercedes sat up, squishing his face lovingly between both hands. She smiled cheerfully. “Don’t forget that I can cast Seraphim at any time, killing you instantly! Really, I’m not the one in danger here.”

Dedue snorted despite himself. He smiled back, wry but affectionate. “That is true.”

“I’m glad we can agree,” Mercedes replied, stealing a quick kiss. When she pulled back, the tension had left Dedue’s shoulders. “Now, let’s get back to where we were!” She fell down onto the daybed, widening her eyes feigned innocence. “Ah, my lord vampire! I can resist you no longer. Please have mercy and ravish me with all haste~!”

Heat flashed in Dedue’s eyes. He lowered his mouth to her throat, fangs brushing over her exposed skin. “As you command,” he murmured, and bit.

mfw ao3 breaks hours before your planned halloween event: ヾ(๑╹◡╹)ﾉ 🔪 RE: What's happening with #FEvampireweekend.

Statement aptly titled: "Well Fuck"

The text is as follows:

Well uh, Happy Halloween, quite the spooky season we're having, huh?

We're sure there's questions about our plans. So we're here to provide some details on how we're going to proceed given these very unforeseen circumstances.

Unfortunately, since we don't know the full extent of what's happened to AO3, and because the event's opening was scheduled for approximately two hours from the time of this post. It puts us in a somewhat difficult situation regarding postponing/reschedule FE: Vampire Weekend.

As result, it's been decided the event will continue as planned, and artists are free to share their creations as they would have normally. Authors can utilize features such as Ellipsus' "reader link" feature, Google Docs sharing, or platforms such as: squidgeworld.org, fanfiction.lol, tumblr, or any other website to host and share their fanfiction.

We do understand for some authors they may not wish to share their work until AO3 has been restored. Be that because the kudos and comments they receive are important to them. They're concerned about their work being published elsewhere on the internet, or any other reason of which there are many. Considering that, we've decided in the (hopefully) near future we'll host a small "redux" event. This will be to both highlight the works of people who refrained from posting, and to allow those who did to reshare their works with their AO3 links.

Finally, we want to thank the Fire Emblem community for all the time and energy they've put into creating beautiful art and writing for this event. We hope that even despite this (admittedly very large) setback that people have lots of fun over the coming days, and we'll be back soon with a make-up date!

And similarly (somewhat) to last year, I have a little comic to go along with this hehe

(Part 1/3 of the comic):
First panel: The Golden Deer girls (as witches) are looking at vampire Ignatz's paintings. Leonie says, "Wow, Ignatz! These paintings are really good. This looks exactly like Lorenz!

Second panel: Hilda grabs for Lysithea's spell book and says, "Oooh! Ignatz, if you want to paint portraits of us all too, we'll cast a spell that lets you see your reflections in mirrors!

(Part 2/3 of the comic):
First panel: The Golden Deer boys (as vampires) stand together, and Claude says, "Sure, if he wants to." Ignatz starts saying, "I would love to-" before Lorenz interrupts, saying, "WAIT."

Second panel: Lorenz moves to stand with his arms crossed and says, "If Ignatz is to paint ALL of us, he deserves to have a portrait of himself too."

Third panel: Same as the second panel, except Lorenz is standing with his chin high.

(Part 3/3 of the comic):
First panel: Ignatz sits on a stool, nervous, while the rest of the Golden Deer sit in a half circle on the floor, all trying their best to draw Ignatz.

Second panel: All the Golden Deer (besides Ignatz) all stand lined up, looking fairly intensely focused while Ignatz reacts to their drawings (Hilda is the only one that looks unfazed).

Third panel: Same as the second panel, except Lysithea moves to walk away and says, "I'm gonna go cast that spell now."

Golden Deer boys as vampires!

Golden Deer boys in gothic style clothing (for the most part. I tried my best), standing in a low lighting room with blue light coming from the window. The window has the deer from the Golden Deer house, the crest of Gloucester, and the crest of Riegan incorporated into the design. Ignatz is sitting in the center of the room, working on a painting of Lorenz, who is posing in front of the window with a glass of red liquid in his hand. Raphael is in the foreground offering Ignatz another glass, and Claude is on the left, also holding a glass, and propping up additional paintings by his side.
