1/n We've just put a new (long) paper online: osf.io/preprints/so... It's a new history of macroeconomics, and it's been one very, very important for me to write It summarizes what historians of macro have been up to in the 10 years, but more importantly...

A sneak peek at some new work that’s brewing from @mdtremblay.bsky.social and me. We look at the long arc of Buchanan’s views on fiscal federalism as it changed from intergovernmental grants to the economics of secession—and the changing normative stances underlying that work.

HES (@shoet.bsky.social) sponsored session at #hetsajshet2026 is on! @mdtremblay.bsky.social on fiscal federalism and what Buchanan thinks about it, in particular his 'reactionary turn' compared to his 1950s thought (co-written with @dkuehn.bsky.social)

First, the data. No provider has full texts of economics articles going back to 1900 in one place, so we pieced them together from JSTOR, Elsevier and ISTEX, and matched them with Web of Science to get citations. We ended up with about 260,000 articles and 61 million sentences.

General representation of the method used in the article, with three sources: JSTOR, Elsevier and ISTEX, merged and cleaned, leading to the meta-corpus to which is added citation data from web of science.

We're launching a new network: HELP — the History of Economics London Partnership — aims to provide a space for people working in the history of economics, the history of economic thought, and related fields to meet, discuss, disagree, and, yes, help each other 😅 Join our mailing list ⬇️

...it offers a new narrative for the history of macro. One you can teach your students Existing narrative is one in which macro is born w/ Keynes, pervaded by revolutions and wars between schools of (few) great men thinking great thoughts (Keynesians, monetarists, new classical, new Keynesians)

It will be on Tuesday 18 lunchtime, and the session will be chaired by current EEA president Imran Rasul. We hope to see you there. Without spoiling too much, as any good history of economics story, the story of EEA begun with a rejected paper...

journals.openedition.org/oeconomia/20...
