Watched 2021’s The Spine of Night which somehow slipped under my radar. I’m such a mark for this. Dark fantasy in rotoscoped animation, told with short vignettes strung together making a mythic tapestry. What a great film.

Six-Sided Seas tonight! New release from @solisgamestudio.bsky.social. Cute and fast playing head-to-head game with some really satisfying gamey hooks. It has a real PNP vibe, but with the fit and finish along with tidy packaging, that works to its advantage.
Saw Resident Evil on Sunday. A consistently fun rollercoaster, but more shallow than I expected given the acclaim and how rich I found Cregger’s Weapons. Not everything needs to be deep, so I’m happy for just a really, really well made action horror comedy, but it’s no Obsession or Sinners either.
Mrs TCbH came home rocking an awesome new do.
Finally knocking Unfathomable off my shelf of shame tonight, one of the few games I’ve ever kept unplayed for more than a year. I have high hopes for this one, with a lotta nostalgia for playing BSG back in the day. Making it a whole thing with a big dinner too.
Been a while since I’ve taken a lunch break to read a book in the park, but I’ve been trying to put more time into meaningful enrichment and less with just “keeping up” or worse yet, doomscrolling. Mostly through Tamaki’s Book of Fallen Leaves; as a debut is intriguing but merely ok on the whole.

First game of @burntislandgames.bsky.social’s Under The Leaves and had a great first impression. Simple tile arrangement but lots of strategy and levers to pull for replay-ability. Looking forward to tabling this one more soon.
More time in with Enchanted Ivy tonight. It’s a bit of a pain to pack and set up but boy is it a neat little puzzle with a cool campaign and loads of smart challenges to encourage reattempts.

Kingdom Builder is an oldie but such a goodie. Stoked to see it on the loaner table at our pub game night so I can teach some folks.
Finally, FINALLY got around to playing Feast for Odin. And ya know what? It’s pretty great. Kind of a bonkers array of systems that Uwe cooked up, clearly taking the maximalism from Caverna and stripping out the Agricola roots, but it comes together so masterfully I can’t help but be impressed.
