It is very unfair that the moment when an author most needs to be on social media--the weeks leading up to and immediately after a book release--are the moments when it's the worst for their mental health for them to be on social media.

Sometimes, I'll read book A, and it'll give me a hankering for something similar, so I'll pick up book B. That can be a delightful experience that multiples my enjoyment of a favorite trope/setting/vibe. Or book B can suffer cruelly in comparison to book A. I'm currently enduring the second thing.

I adore “Monster Mash” more dearly than I can ever express, but it will never not bother me that Dracula is listed as a guest in verse 2 but at home in his coffin in verse 3.

I was working barefoot at my desk when a colleague knocked on my door, and I realized my shoes were across the room. "Just don't swing around reveal your feet," I thought. "Easy." And then he asked for a book, and I had to stand up. And of course he laughed at me. Anyhow, I'm a ridiculous human.

He’s super for real about the Hindutva thing and I also encourage white US viewers to be aware that we will experience this movie differently than those with more context. (See: RRR which leftist white Americans loved for anticolonialism but was also doing icky shit that was largely invisible to us)

Critic friends in the US attending Ramayana (Part 1) screenings: please be advised that Sony is only screening the English dub for press, which 1) is lip-synced using Gen A.I. and 2) is about 30 minutes shorter than the original Hindi version, which isn’t screening pre-release
