The whole "AI" industry is just based on the hope that they can deskill people fast enough that they'll have to rent back cognitive support systems. Forever. It's like Uber. Just that they don't try to break existing transportation infrastructures but your brain.

“You see the go-fast-but-also-meh-whatever vibe everywhere if you look for it.“ Interesting think-piece on Agentic AI and AI security. Guess we have never been closer to living in a Thomas Pynchon novel before.
A self-replicating thing doesn’t have to be very smart to cause major problems. Generally we can plan ahead though, and contain the damage. Well, we could do that. In theory. Or we could spice things up a bit. Maybe run some bat-licking ecotours instead. Why not? honnibal.dev/blog/clownpo...
Also, this. The lack of productivity boost from AI has been well covered on Bluesky, certainly. It's just odd that it can *feel* like a boost. But every time it's tested, this loss is reported. www.theregister.com/2026/02/18/a...

Perhaps still the best general purpose explainer of how an LLM works and the one I give to students. Here’s why I like it (short🧵): ig.ft.com/generative-ai/
Generative AI exists because of the transformer
The technology has resulted in a host of cutting-edge AI applications — but its real power lies beyond text generation

I'm so excited for this. As @ryancordell.bsky.social says, Dan Evans has done a terrific job, with the assistance of Ben Galewsky in Illinois computing. Thanks also to @dennmis.bsky.social and Freie Universität Berlin, who hosted the hackathon that gave us an additional push.
Soft launch on a Friday afternoon, but I’m too excited to wait—we finally have a new database providing search & download access to the Viral Texts Project’s "speculative bibliographies" of C19 newspaper reprinting Huge thanks to iSchool PhD student Daniel Evans for making the impossible possible!

This looks like a fascinating way to teach an AI grad seminar—I’m particularly thinking about in my iSchool context—library/archival studies as a framework for AI
Now that the semester’s wound up, I wanted to share the readings Giulia Taurino and I and the students in our seminar on Artificial Intelligence as an Archival Science put together. We had a great time, they wrote some good papers, and hopefully this will be useful. github.com/dasmiq/cs718...
