The spread of Chinese AI models with built-in censorship mechanisms could quietly shape the global information environment for the worse.

Some people read this as if people using "generative AI" don't know what's up. But these lines just show how the "AI" industry keeps cycling through terms hiding the same systems in order to not have to admit that the invest and outcome don't match.

The whole “brain is hardware, language is software” thing, the ability to program people with language etc, totally fits with the idea that empathy/caring/wokeness isn’t something people do willing, it’s only something they’re infected by. I see why callous tech bros love it.

I’m surely not the first to come to this realisation, but the LLM industrial complex is to tech-life what MAGA is to politics: erode any and all trust in established institutions, people and practices for the benefit of the very few and worst people on the planet in the (poor) guise of freedom.

It does make sense: OpenAI was losing ground and mindshare to Anthropic. They are running out of money but couldn't IPO because SpaceX ruined it. This "our model is a Cyberweapon" is advertising directly to the Pentagon.
