Progressive State Representative for the 1st Hampshire District in beautiful western Massachusetts who believes in the right to self determination, reproductive freedom, the separation of church and state, the power of libraries, and doing the research.

Ending fuel emission standards when gas prices are sky high is a super way to show you don't understand how painful filling up is for regular people. This is a big "screw you" from the admin that keeps screwing us.

Other countries ensure every resident has access to health care. In the US, a VP - whose own mom was on Medicaid before buying a plan on the ACA - spends his days figuring out how to kick people off plans that they pay for. Cue the inevitable stories of people improperly losing coverage...

This week, we took up a bill that I filed with Rep. Christine Barber to remove arbitrary limits on abortion care. Pregnancy is complex and no two situations are alike. The law has to take all situations into account and the best way to do that is to leave the choice to a patient and their doctor.

Massachusetts has an opportunity to lead by preventing surveillance pricing in grocery stores: the practice of using personal data to charge different customers different prices for the same item. I'm glad to be leading on this bill and to share this important article.

A bill in Massachusetts, H.99, would ban grocers from using biometric data collected on their premises to personalize prices. In my latest with Gavin Sicard, we make the economic case in support of a such a ban. The only winners from personalized pricing are the companies engaged in the practice.

Americans are relearning the lesson we learned during the Gilded Age of the late 1890s, when robber barons ran the government and the economy for their own benefit: Oligarchy is incompatible with the common good. I'm hopeful we'll respond with a new progressive movement.

Don't congratulate John Roberts or the Supreme Court. Congratulate Rick Woldenberg, the Chicago-area leader of Learning Resources, an educadtional toy company that had the courage to sue the president of the United States to save his family business. As well as everyone else who stepped up.

I remember when American Idiot came out and I thought Bush was the worst president we would ever have. 20+ years later, the song is still relevant and the current administration is the worst we have ever seen. Maybe *this* actually be the bottom of the barrel.

Super curious what justification there would be to having ICE at the polls other than obvious voter intimidation? But when "Kavanaugh stops" are allowed, this is a clear effort to keep people of color home. I would say I hope this keeps the Justices up at night, but this is exactly what he wanted.

🚨BREAKING: The White House Thursday refused to rule out the presence of immigration enforcement at voting locations this November, a response that follows extremist rhetoric about placing federal forces at the polls. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

A constituent stopped by my district office today and, as he was leaving, said, “I love how budget conscious you are around here.” Not entirely sure whether it was a compliment or a gentle jab at my thrifted decor and shared workspace. I am choosing to take it as the former. 🤷‍♀️
