Anyway, fuck you with your "shared bonding." The country tore itself apart after 9/11 and the pieces will likely never be put back together again.
And, of course, there were no shortage of less complicated acts of violence against Muslims and non-Muslims alike. What was important was that a lot of Americans hated brown people and decided to persecute them and that impulse has basically ruled national policy and media coverage for 25 years.
In reality it was more complicated -- the victim was with the killer's ex-girlfriend, who the killer was stalking -- but the fact that his go-to move for trying to get out from a murder a week after 9/11 was "I'm mad at Muslims" is a far more accurate picture of what was going on at the time.
Senator, you may not have realized it because you weren't living in Michigan -- you were applying to work for the CIA at the time -- but on On 9/17/2001 a Yemini Arab from Michigan named Ali Almansoop was murdered by a man citing "mad at 9/11" for the crime. bsky.app/profile/slot...

Another pillar of the English dub community gone too soon 😢 Besides having incredible range as a VA, he also directed/scripted DOZENS of dubs that were always a cut above. Many VAs I’ve talked to at cons said unprompted that he was so fun to work with and encouraging of creativity. Huge loss 💔

Rest in peace, Mike McFarland. Had the pleasure of working with him and whenever we exchanged messages/interacted over the years, he was always nothing if not a kind, stand up dude. Seeing everyone’s outpouring of love for him is a testament to how good of a guy he was.
