Lawyer for poor people in Toronto, Canada. I write very silly books, mainly about lesbians, and scream into the eternal void. LLMs suck a left nut and a right nut and we should launch them into the sun. https://bennylawrence.com/

I probably will not see "The Odyssey" because I can't deal with seeing a sad dog right now. Which is a shame in a way but I suspect that Lupita Nyong'o doesn't get nearly enough screen time in any event. Greek mythology cinematic universe with standalone Helen flick?

AND ANOTHER THING: How can Crayola possibly justify eliminating vital colours in the yellow part of the spectrum (looking at YOU, Dandelion) in favour of dozens of interchangeable shades of pink and blue? It is an affront to good sense and a menace to serious colouring. In this 35 page essay I will

Oh dark brooding deities that guide those of us who irrationally insist on making things from scratch, please do not make me bollux up this thing at the final stage of making it, in the name of Phillips screwdrivers we pray

My second grade teacher, at the beginning of the Gulf War, said, "It would be nice if we could take all the people who want to fight wars and put them in a big cupboard and close the door," and I have never forgotten it. Into the cupboard with you, warmongering fuckheads.

One of the good things about working in poverty law is that I mostly can wear jeans at the office. Friday was an exception, though- I had to don full lawyer drag and sulked a lot to my best friend about it.

Image of a phone with four messages sent in quick succession to someone's long-suffering best friend: "Oh good heavens. These trousers, so shiny. These socks, so thin. These shoes, no good for kicking a wildebeast. I miss my lawyerly flannel. My cat just ran away from me. I am a buffoon. I cannot believe, I cannot BELIEVE I used to dress like this every day."

On the one hand, all the stories of humans falling victim to AI psychosis are extremely sad and disturbing, and a vivid illustration of how vulnerable we are when lonely. On the other hand, WHY DO PEOPLE ENJOY having Clippy in their ear saying, "It looks like you're drafting a manifesto. Need help?"

Me: Must buy more books for nieces' Christmas presents! (Buys more books) Me: Insufficient books for proper Christmas joy! (Buys more books; shelves strain) Me: Continue until capitalism collapses! (Singularity forms in my room from the massive weight.)

Babysitting nieces tomorrow! Which means it is time to make OVERELABORATE THINGS TO PLAY WITH that amuse me more than anyone else. No idea whether nieces will have any particle of interest in a pair of dinochompers, but I'M having fun.

A pair of devices made out of scrap cardboard and paper-fasteners, with T-Rex faces affixed at one end, designed to chomp when someone opens the handles, clearly made by a Very Serious Lawyer Person.
