Jack Mackay's books are perfect for horror lovers aged 10-14! Atmospheric and creepy, the perfect read for those cold nights.

I honestly can't recommend these enough. We've done one for the last two years and they're amazing! The books that we got were so perfect!

So sad to have learned of the passing of Terry Denton. The Treehouse books with Andy Griffiths brought our daughter so much joy and laughter, and we love to see the joy they spark in our young customers. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. www.theguardian.com/books/2026/s...

Kids books are riddled with terrible parenting and untrustworthy grown-ups. But sometimes an adult character will get to shine through as a source of kindness, refuge, wisdom or fun. For this week’s #KidsBooksFriday which books feature the lesser-spotted decent adult? #KidLitUK #UKKidLit #KidLit

We're on the Gruffalo Granny Countdown! Pre-order your copy with us or purchase by 10th October and thanks to Macmillan, a copy of It's the Gruffalo fingerpuppet board book will be donated to the local hospital for distribution on the children's and maternity wards. One copy donated per sale ❤️

A bookseller who has once again left it late to organise her annual Christmas author/illustrator signing for Christmas Light Switch On in Retford (Sunday November 29th).

This September we celebrate 10 years of #WorldKidLit month - when @worldkidlit.bsky.social encourage us to discover global children’s literature. So let’s use this week’s #KidsBooksFriday to celebrate children’s books from the world. 🌍 worldkidlit.org/what-is-worl... #UKKidLit #KidLitUK #KidLit

Beautiful topic ❤️ I'm opting for @darrenchetty.bsky.social and Sandhya Prabhat's I'm Going to Make A Friend. And it's also the perfect picture book to share with children starting school.

This week’s #KidsBooksFriday is inspired by the great Dolly Parton. So whether it’s books about kindness, generosity, gratitude, inclusivity, positivity, hope, self-belief, or something else, let’s share books that embody Dolly’s spirit and legacy. #KidLitUK #UKKidLit #KidLit #BeMoreDolly

Sad news about Dolly Parton. She was also an incredible human who did a huge amount of good in this world. She founded Dolly's Imagination Library which has helped 7 million books in the UK get to children. Worldwide, over 300 million free books have been gifted. What a legacy ❤️

Really excited to welcome @rashmiwriting.bsky.social to Wonderland on Wednesday! She'll be signing copies of Hari Kumar The Race Day Disaster and if you'd like a signed and dedicated copy, we can also post out 😍

I was excited for my copy of Comics in the Classroom by @eggyhelen.bsky.social and Lucy Starbuck Braidley to arrive yesterday. So for this week’s #KidsBooksFriday, what comics / graphic novels do you reckon could work particularly well in a classroom? #KidLitUK #UKKidLit #KidLit

Medusa Gorgon's Deadly Side Eye is OUT NOW and Bethany Walker is with us this morning for a drop in signing and crafts!

It's the Year of Reading. It's kinda chic to afford children and teens the agency to choose what they read. Respect ALL forms of reading. It's VERY chic to respect kidlit. It's the most important of all.

Just a few recent YA books... What are you reading?

Mini Bookseller drew a pen and ink sketch of the shop last year which we printed on postcards to sell. Last night, she decided to try out her watercolours. Should we have these printed too? Playing cards feature in Wonderland!

There is a huge wasp in the bookshop. It's the new manager.

Today is the last day to place your pre-order for a signed and dedicated copy of The Wild Ones by Steve Cole! #kidlituk

If you're not already following @louiestowell.bsky.social then please do go and give her a follow!

This is absolutely one of the big reasons that WBD matters. The first book, and it also means they've been able to choose!

Interesting (depressing) stat about world book day: "Jonathan Douglas told us that a quarter of children on free school meals said that the first book they owned came as a result of the World Book Day £1 book tokens" - but shows it's worth doing!

We said the same thing!

Louie Stowell@louiestowell.bsky.social · 3mo ago

Some circular logic at work re comics vs prose books: The Children’s Commissioner argued that books “confer certain cultural capital benefits that other forms (such as comics and magazines) simply cannot.” The reason for that cultural capital is ppl like you keep saying prose books are better!

Well, it has to be Dim Sum Palace by X. Fang! The most glorious picture book.

My kids have been attempting to do a learn a bit more cookery these holidays. So for this week’s #KidsBooksFriday I thought we could do books featuring/celebrating food and cooking. (Take the theme as loosely as you please). #KidLitUK #UKKidLit #KidLit

*taps mic* Child agency matters. Let children choose the books they want to read. Let children define their own READING FOR FUN.
