I ref/coach for my daughters team, they dont even publish results, and if you give a corner/goal kick wrong some parents will hurl abuse at you, no wonder people dont progress it. Instead of people thinking how they should be punished, people should think there wouldn't be a game if they didnt do it

if you asked people who would be good at it why they don't go into refereeing, i'm fairly sure the level of abuse would be a major reason. they're already highly publicly scrutinised compared to their level of pay. this is the opposite of the truth.

Refs being protected from any criticism or repercussions regardless what they do is a big part of the reason their performances are so shite. Why would you improve if you can't be criticised and are never punished no matter what you do?

The chances Harry Kane would have taken 6 months off for his ankle(s) to properly heal without the enforced break from COVID is 0.0%, and he quite frankly would have run himself into the ground years ago if he hadn’t.

Wrote a newsletter about Harry Kane, specifically the now forgotten period when it really did look like he was declining in the data, and how he very suddenly turned it around. www.graceonfootball.com/p/covid-save...

Jordan Henderson playing at Anfield and completely forgetting that he doesn’t play for Liverpool anymore. “Hey ref that’s gotta be handball, that’s a penalty!” 🙋🏻‍♂️
