I hope Knowsley families have had a great summer. As children head back to school, Labour is helping with ✅cheaper uniforms ✅more breakfast clubs ✅expanded childcare ✅free school meals ✅new technical education routes. Giving every child the best start in life.
I'm really pleased that Labour is extending free 24/7 bus travel for disabled people across England, helping more than 20,000 people in Knowsley who live with a disability get where they need to go.
A mum in Stockbridge Village contacted me after her housing provider refused to install safety gates outside her home, despite concerns for her son's safety who has complex needs. I took up her case, and the provider agreed to install gates and fencing outside the property. ❤️
Labour is changing the railcard rules so 18-year-olds can get half-price train tickets. With £2 fares and kids going free on buses this summer, we are providing families with the little bit of breathing space needed.
I've lost count of the number of conversations I've had about the cost of getting around. For many people, the bus is how they get to work, college, appointments and see family. It shouldn't cost a fortune. So I'm made up that bus fares in England will be capped at £2 in 2027.
Throwback to my DJ days. 🎧🎶 Spending many nights in venues like this showed me just how important pubs, clubs and live music venues are. They're the beating heart of our communities. Delighted they'll be getting a 20% business rates cut from April to help them keep going strong.
It is an incredible honour to have been appointed by the Prime Minister to serve as his Chief Whip and deliver the change in culture that he has promised colleagues and the public.
Not surprised to see Knowsley MP Anneliese Midgley get chief whip. She’s known as a brilliant organiser and fixer. Wrote this about her background and life a few weeks ago for anyone interested.
I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my predecessor, Sir George Howarth. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Julie, his children, and all his family, friends and former colleagues at this deeply sad time.

Following Lloyds Banking Group's decision to close three bank branches in Knowsley, I've written to the CEO seeking an urgent meeting. 👇
Today we remember the 72 lives lost in the Grenfell Tower fire and stand with the families and survivors still seeking justice. 9 years on, the fight for truth and accountability continues. Their struggle underlines why the Hillsborough Law must be delivered without delay.
♻️ Support a great cause AND shop sustainably! There's a Clothes Swap & Fill-a-Bag Event on the 26th June at St Gabriel's, Huyton. All proceeds will support the Triangle of Hope Youth Pilgrimage. Thanks to the organisers for organising. Please share and spread the word! 💚
Labour is backing families this summer. We’re cutting VAT on kids’ meals, cinemas, theatres and attractions, introducing free bus travel for children in August, and extending the fuel duty cut - helping families with the cost of living while supporting local businesses.
I was worried that students and staff from Knowsley Community College were stranded in Bali after flight cancellations due to the ongoing situation in Iran. I worked with authorities to push for safe travel arrangements, and thankfully, all 30 people made it home safely ❤️
Breakfast clubs help kids go to school nourished and ready to learn. The Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Awards 2026 are now open. Schools across Knowsley are doing incredible work through their breakfast clubs. I’d love to see them apply here: www.kelloggs.co.uk/en_GB/our-st...

Knowsley deserves high streets that are safe, thriving and free from organised crime. I’m backing Labour’s £30m crackdown on rogue businesses linked to money laundering and exploitation – with more raids, closures & tougher enforcement to drive criminals out of our communities.
Labour’s Waste Crime Action Plan is cracking down on rogue operators in Knowsley with: ✅ Criminal record & ID checks for waste carriers ✅ Competency tests before permits are issued ✅ Clear permit numbers on vans & adverts ✅ Tougher penalties - including up to 5 yrs in prison
Another case sorted for a constituent in Huyton who had been waiting far too long for their Civil Service pension. After I intervened, a long-overdue lump sum was paid - helping ease immediate financial pressure. I’ll keep working on this until everything owed is fully received.
I’m sorry but I’ve had to cancel my surgery today in Kirkby Morrisons as they didnt have a record of the booking. My caseworker is in the Cafe to take details and arrange appointments to see me until 5pm to help with any urgent issues. I will get this surgery rearranged asap
Capita’s mismanagement of civil service pensions has been an absolute shambles. I asked the Minister why we keep awarding them contracts, and when we are going to fulfil our promise of the biggest wave of insourcing in a generation. Watch 👇
📢 I’m hiring a Comms Officer to join my lovely team. From digital content and media to supporting local campaigns and community engagement, this is a great new role. 🔗 www.w4mpjobs.org/JobDetails.a...
It was amazing to welcome students from Lord Derby Academy to Parliament last week. They came for a tour and a Q&A with me. I love these visits so much and would love to see more schools come and visit.
Happy St George’s Day to everyone in Knowsley! Today we celebrate our patron saint, St George - a symbol of courage, resilience, and standing up for what’s right. Whether you’re marking the day with family, friends, or just enjoying the sunshine, I hope it’s a good one. ❤️
Absolute pleasure to meet @anneliesemidgleymp.bsky.social MP to discuss the reasons behind the dental access crisis, and what needs to be done to end it. Really looking forward to working with you to press for change your constituents desperately need. @thebda.bsky.social
Yesterday, Olivia’s Law cleared its final hurdle in Parliament. Proud to have played a part in this alongside Cheryl Korbel, whose determination after Olivia's loss has driven this change. Criminals will no longer be able to refuse sentencing hearings and avoid facing victims.
