We are sad to report Dr Nigel Carter OBE has passed away. “Nigel was always a pioneer, one of the first to establish a formal training programme for dental nurses when he was working on the frontline in my stomping ground in Birmingham,” says our Chair @eddiecrouch.bsky.social

Private dentistry is unaffordable for large sections of the population and yet it is the only dentistry available over whole swathes of the country. Good dental care is essential to the health and wellbeing of the population. It should not be at the whim of market forces

Today NHS dentistry turns 78. It helped transform the oral health of the nation. But almost from its inception, the Treasury has pushed back. First slapping on charges. And since then delivering chronic underfunding. A service millions depend on can't exist on goodwill alone.
