I'm looking for a lovely, talented PhD student, working on my ERC-funded project investigating the links between sexual selection and epidemic dynamics. The project uses guppies, worms, behaviour tracking, big experiments, and maths.. email me! Must have a masters! su.varbi.com/what:job/job...

Looking for a postdoc to work with existing SNP data from parasites of guppies across Trinidad. How do river structure, host specialisation, and host behaviour structure parasite population genetic structure and evolutionary potential? Join me in Stockholm! Email me :D su.varbi.com/what:job/job...

Amazing thread by @vdbijl.bsky.social about the story of this paper. And it is a beast of a paper, combining thousands of fish, computer-aided vision, convoluted neural nets, quantitative genetics, GWAS, sex chromosomes, genomics and sexual selection. There is something here for nearly everyone.

🚨 Super exited to see our paper on the inheritance and genetic basis of guppy color variation come out in @natecoevo.nature.comrdcu.be/eugWV Guppy males have enormous variation in color patterns, with many combinations of ornamental spots and stripes. But where does all this variation come from?

Our study is out where we study associations between immune genes (MHC class II) and 16s microbial diversity in Rana arvalis. Great study and great team , @JacobHglund1 , @RodinPatrik, @sweediepetie , @Aka_RichterBoix , Jürg and Laurila doi.org/10.1111/mec....

Hidden labour is all over academia and open science. Let's change that! We published a paper with some suggestions, but what we're most excited about is to hear from you in the comments section at @plos.bsky.social website - go there and add your voice to the choir!

Postdoctoral scientists are mentors, and it is time to recognize their work

Post-doctoral scientists are effective mentors for graduate students. This Perspective discusses how failures to properly credit them for this role has negative consequence for everyone and suggests p...

New paper in PLOS Biol with @graciellehigino.bsky.social et al.: "Postdoctoral scientists are mentors, and it is time to recognize their work". We argue that ensuring that post-docs receive proper credit for ALL their labour would benefit all academia.
