Are interacting species showing more similar responses to environmental predictors than expected by chance? Is this similarity protecting species pairs from interaction disruption under climate change? If you want to find out, join us for a fully funded Ph.D. with @epic-biodiversity.org 🌎🧪
Join us! We are looking for a Ph.D. student to work on the response of ecological network structure to environmental drivers; this line of research can be adapted to questions on climate change, phylogenetic conservatism, and more! 🧪🌎 epic-biodiversity.org/opportunities/

I've been coming across so many great open science initiatives in other fields that I wanted to take a moment to highlight some of the efforts happening in the Education Sciences. New blog post! 💡 cghlewis.com/blog/ed_open...

Mixed feelings of loving Mozilla for implementing a quick toggle on and off for AI on Firefox, but also hating that they've put AI on the browser in the first place.
I'm reviewing a PhD candidate's comprehensive exam manuscript for tomorrow (I'm late! I know!) and 1. I can't believe people delegate that to LLMs nowadays - it's so much fun! 2. It feels outdated to ask students to go through qualifying exams and hand over a PDF for evaluation in 2026.

"then tried to convince me that I wanted to solve a different problem" Laughing way harder than I am allowed to.
This morning I solved a little scripting problem in ~ 10 minutes. ChatGPT failed to solve it after 40 minutes. Claude failed to solve it in 20 minutes, then tried to convince me that I wanted to solve a different problem. This is why we don't let LLMs near any @epic-biodiversity.org code.

That’s a very futile thing to say right now but… 10 years ago I was not even a tidyverse person, now I can’t wait for January 31st (major dplyr release on CRAN).
Preprint alert 🚨 (yes, I still go online, shocker) Scaling from Metawebs to Realised Webs: A Hierarchical Approach to Network Ecology TL;DR: Networks are like… weirdly finicky and if you want your network analysis to not be a sad chaos, check this preprint: [https://doi.org/10.32942/X2JW8K] 🏠💻
