Speaking of eyes! The pupil does not rest directly on the outside of the eyeball. It's actually sunk in a bit, resting under the (somewhat raised) cornea. If you reflect this in your art - even your stylized art - it will make your characters seem more alive.

These cute N Minneapolis commercial buildings reflect a different era when zoning was simpler and you could just build a store in your yard. The first one is from 1926 (used to be pink!) and sits on a tiny 1/3 sized lot. The 2nd is behind a residence and was Penn Electric Motors for decades.
