I have figured one thing out! The news. The news was better 40+ years ago. Because we all watched pretty much the same news programs, they were far more accountable. They couldn't just lie on TV and get away with it. And the fourth estate in general had a higher standard.

You know what they didn't have in airlines 40+ years ago? In-flight entertainment systems. No movies. No TV. No music. No games. Just use your phone? Nope. They didn't have those either. IF it was a long flight, a single monitor might show a single movie. And you had to crane your neck to see it.

I may have to go with... "everything?" 1986... I was 14 years old. We couldn't afford cable, so we had like... 4 channels of TV. Your life was limited to what was available in a few square miles. "Grey Poupon" was considered exotic. Tacos were crisply. Airplane flights were a nightmare.

Washington has been 100% vote by mail since 2011. I haven't voted in person since 2000. All of our ballots have individual tracking numbers and we get to watch them go through the whole process. It is the best voting system in the US.

It's the only method of voting where you actually have the ability to research which of the weirdos running for county assessor is a better choice, without holding up a dozen people waiting in line. It's insane to me this isn't how all voting is done in this country. It's so much better.
