I have never once told a single newsletter writer to leave beehiiv. Y’all are putting words in my mouth and I do not appreciate that. What I will continue to do is report on what they’re doing and show you the bigger picture of where I think they’re heading (my bet is an acquisition in a few years)

You’re concerned about subscription fatigue meanwhile I’m out here convincing more people to launch subscriptions. It’s bizarre to me that so many people want to stifle creative, meaningful, and educational work. We need your work. Subscriptions help pay to make it possible.
Everyone realizing Substack recommendations and beehiiv boosts are just inflating your audience with people who don’t care
Ive been trying to get our portero to call me Doña Lex as a joke bc he calls my neighbor Don Nicolás and Nico is at least ten years younger than me but he says Doña Lex SUENA FEO 🤣
It’s the 2 year anniversary of Revenue Rulebreaker and the Legends Network this month. I had this moment today where I realized it’s been many years since I had a shitty job. I have a really fucking great job working only with really great people and it’s cool that that is possible

I use Ghost because it’s open source and you can self-host. But, there’s a learning curve if you want to customize it beyond their stock templates. There’s also backend stuff that’s annoying and requires some technical know how.
I'm getting a lot of notes about beehiiv's price raise and some folks are asking about Ghost. I gotta be honest...I don't like Ghost that much. I moved because I loved Outpost and wanted to use their tool which only works with Ghost. I also hated beehiiv's website builder

Oh joy, Stripe is starting to AI-ify its payments processing. They're about to make us pay for their global domination dreams. They updated their privacy policy today, post-purchase of OpenRouter last month, to authorize agentic payments
beehiiv announced a decent price raise today that has users pretty fucking annoyed. One user shared on Reddit that with 5k subscribers, their plan is going from $109/mo to $139/mo. The complaints include
Just heard another cool Legends win. One of our guest writers got outreach from a reader and they booked six months of coaching with them. This is how we keep everyone in business at Revenue Rulebreaker.
I'm raising the price of Legends from $99/year to $119/year on October 19 If you join before then, you lock in that $99 rate for as long as it's around

I'm hearing complaints about beehiiv's price raise today. I haven't had time to dig into what's different (at first glance, pricing doesn't look...that different) but I'm hearing feature bloat is a big concern for small biz owners More later. For now, here's the before + after (light is before)

Things I’m thinking about doing next year: - Running a live class for service business owners pivoting to media business - Writing a book about how to sell paid subscriptions and not featuring one single substack user - Hosting halfday events/dinners in Chicago and Berlin and/or London
I published the Tech Watchlist today: companies we're paying close attention to because they're up to no good. This list includes 10 companies I think could go south, 4 companies I am softly watching and 12 companies that are ethical, indie operators www.revenuerulebreaker.com/the-tech-wat...

Second time in the last week that Meta has attached some random user to a major news story. Last week it was Peter Shankman getting linked to the United masturbation story Today it’s Kelsey Combe being named as Jane Doe in the Columbia 7 case
Remember when Google built their own domains tool and it was just awesome, no caveats, with lots of free bonus features like email aliases and easy DNS. And then they ruined it by selling it to the vultures at Squarespace. What a time to be alive that was.
