A close up of a Water Stick Insect...which isn't a type of Stick Insect but a type of Water Scorpion...which are not Scorpions but insects, members of the True Bugs as demonstrated by that needle like rostrum mouth What is confusing about that? Lol #bugsky #inverts #PondLife

Holy shit. Republican Harriet Hagemen got torn apart at a town hall in Wyoming last night. In a state that voted for Trump by 46 points. She tried defending DOGE and it went as well as you’d imagine. “Deport Elon, Deport Elon!” Watch to the end…

FRIDAY: Join @standupforscience.bsky.social rallies around the US to protest funding cuts, illegal firings, and censorship of scientists. In response to the attacks, the most important thing we can do is to visually show that science has strong support in this country, so please show up if you can!

Brilliant protest. Yosemite National Park workers hung an upside-down American flag — traditionally a symbol of distress or a national threat — thousands of feet off the ground on the side of El Capitan.

An upside-down American flag hangs from El Capitan near Yosemite National Park’s Horsetail Fall on Saturday to protest the thousands of federal job cuts made by President Donald Trump’s administration.

The censorship begins: According to officials, the Trump administration is instructing health agencies including the CDC, FDA, NIH, and HHS to pause all external communications, such as health advisories, weekly scientific reports, updates to websites and social media posts.

This is an incredible image of insect behaviour. One individual (probably male) has its pheromone glands protruding (pair of yellow organs). It's fanning its wings to puff pheromone toward the other individual (probably female). The mating display involves scent and likely vision and sound. 🪳🪲
