The report from the London AI and Jobs Taskforce makes one thing clear: the impact of AI on jobs is not predetermined. I'm pleased to accept the flagship recommendations from the Taskforce and back them with £18 million in skills and careers support for young Londoners.

Graphic with image of a woman sitting in a factory typing on a laptop. Text underneath reads "AI is changing work. London is getting ready. / A new London AI Early Action System will help spot changes in jobs and skills sooner / Employers, workers and educators will help shape how AI changes jobs and creates value / A Future Ready Guarantee will help young Londoners build the skills and experience needed for tomorrow's careers" [Mayor of London logo]

New research from @london-vru.bsky.social shows young people are served violent content without searching for it – it’s the background to their experience online. We’re responding with a £5m investment in digital youth work, mentoring, and interventions to protect young Londoners from these harms.

Youth clubs like Avenues Youth Project do incredible work with young Londoners to keep them safe and help them thrive. My London VRU is funding sport and physical activity sessions like this during the holidays and throughout the year to ensure young people have access to positive opportunities.

60% of young offenders have speech and language difficulties. My @london-vru.bsky.social is reaching children at the start of primary school to support them to improve their communication skills, with a big impact: 98% of children have closed the gap to their peers.

Thanks @annafazack.bsky.social for such a good write-up on such an important primary school intervention. Early impressive results @london.gov.uk @london-vru.sky.social

Two-thirds of children at risk of exclusion have speech and communication needs. My @london-vru.bsky.social is addressing this with oracy interventions in primary school. In just one year, it has led to 98% of children narrowing the gap to their peers and 60% meeting vocabulary standards.

My message at today’s International Diplomatic Reception: London is a global city, with strengths rooted in our cultural, economic and social connections with countries around the world. I’ll continue to foster collaboration for a more inclusive and connected London.
