NEW: ALA is going to court to stop the President’s attempts to illegally dismantle the Institute of Museum & Library Services. The President does not have the authority to destroy a federal agency. That's why we're taking action with our co-plaintiff @afscme.bsky.social. #ForOurLibraries (1/3)
@jessicaturtle.bsky.social @ourmoh.bsky.social you are a superstar 🌟 Hugely deserved round of applause for your personal and powerful keynote contribution at the @homelesslink.bsky.social conference. 💓 Powerful takeaway that ending homelessness needs to be more about love than rules.
The only way to counter the far right is to improve living standards and public services
I hucked in all these logs across the moorings yesterday bc @mattturtle.bsky.social has a bad back, usually we do it together. Its half a tonne total so I feel suitably proud. I caught up with the last couple weeks of @404media.co whilst I did it. Highly recommend subscribing to those guys.

I see that Trump is a feminist hero now, in a move from gender criticals that is entirely expected.
There was a seal playing in the Thames this morning. Combined with this sunrise, as me and @mattturtle.bsky.social step off the moorings and back to the museum, it feels like the week should have blessings in it. Wishing everyone a good one 😊
I took my nieces to see this yesterday and it was crap to the point of being funny www.lostinlight.uk

The Stonewall uprising, now seen as a pivotal moment in the struggle for LGBTQ+ rights, was not universally welcomed by gay activists at the time. The Mattachine Society, then the leading gay rights organisation, begged the rioters to stop.
I know analogies between the gay-rights struggle and the trans struggle are inexact, but it's worth holding onto the fact that in the years right after Stonewall, anti-gay backlash was intense and virulent, and gay people suffered a number of legislative defeats and public-opinion setbacks. >
"I know you are mad busy with bum bum train this spring but glad you can squeeze in some work on Riot FM after the show opens" is a sentence I typed today and this kind of sentence is why I like working in the arts.

Spent the day not managing to write funding bids but managing very well to eat a lot of crisps
Well the emergency shelter is done and its first night back on the boat since last Tuesday. The cats are not happy with us at all lol.
What a week. Been running the shelter since Tuesday with a fantastic bunch of people. What a privilege it is to do this in our own way in our own building after so many years campaigning for better and more provision.
We are running our first ever emergency shelter here at the museum. The joy of simply being able to say "yes of course you can come in for the night" is such a contrast to having to try for hours (and often fail) to get someone indoors via official channels. Our way should be normal
I REALLY wish all the papers and the BBC and other outlets would stop reporting on fucking El*n Musk, everything he says or does and legitimising him. The only thing that should be amplified is the twitch stream where he was repeatedly owned by that excellent young person.
We are back at work tomorrow and looking at the forecast we'll be opening our emergency cold weather shelter in the museum for the first time ever the very next day And that's how 25 is going to be huh
One of the enduring myths of covid is that we solved homelessness in covid. What this shows is how little our society understands the structural and individual factors that cause homelessness. A lot of homelessness charities contributed to creating this myth at the time.
My friend Maari died in December. She was an amazing person and her death has hit hard. We are raising money for her funeral and memorial as her family don't have the funds. Please help if you can and please boost if possible. Thank you. ❤️ www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding...

I’m not back from leave yet but I’m already digging into SWEP cos of the cold & and trying to figure out what being a tier 1 or 2 person means. Apparently u need to be one to get offers of help. Why do our systems of care in the UK have all these complicated & mind boggling classification systems
