this am: Equipment failure in New York as well as Philly Approach. All airports holding / ground stopped until 11:00am eastern time. Failure took place at approximately 9:31am eastern time. No further update. JFK is the only airport accepting aircraft.
“New York area airport ground stops were cancelled at 11:01am eastern time. JFK is almost back to normal ops for airbornes, thanks to low inbound volume. Some of the satellite airports, and EWR are backed up and in recovery mode, mostly with airborne mile-in-trail spacing.”
Someone sends: “Bad day to be flying into New York area airspace. JFK currently has a total radar failure and HPN has a total frequency failure. Both airports currently holding. 10:30am Eastern Time.” (Any details mentioned above are unconfirmed )
