Another good moth trap sesh in Cornwall. Convolvulus Hawk, 7 Striped Hawks, a real surprise Portland ribbon wave, Grass Eggar, Vestal Scarce Bordered Straw & Bordered Straw 57 sp/280 moths. Then a call from mate down the road for a Blair’s Mocha! #moths @mandymyers007.bsky.social
The @dailymail.co.uk as ever, misinformed, misguided, fact-free, clueless and shameless.
The grouse moor lobby is out in force today, blaming ‘rewilding’ for wildfires and demanding government lift restrictions on… burning moorland! They want to burn heather because it increases grouse numbers. You don’t fight fire with fire. You fight it with water! www.dailymail.com/news/article...
Fantastic set of moths out of our ‘holiday’ trap down in Cornwall, this morning! Stunning (2) Striped Hawks were new for us, also Lackey, Scarce bordered Straw, Ni Moth, White Speck, Mullein Wave, Olive Tree Pearl, Dark Swordgrass & Marbled Green. #moths #Cornwall @mandymyers007.bsky.social
Great to see @norfolkbirding.bsky.social this weekend and @tg42birder.bsky.social today on his patch. The Black-winged Kite performed this afternoon, much better in flight! Eventually settled but distantly. Hobby was nice and then we did your Little Tern colony! Superb and so many! #Norfolkbirds
Couple of great moths and one a nice surprise this weekend from our garden moth trap in Harpley! Plus good to track down several Sundew Plumes locally. #moths #norfolk @mandymyers007.bsky.social
This little Cosmopterix scribaiella (Reed Beauty) was a nice surprise in my garden moth trap on Tuesday night. They’re spreading but not many record in Norfolk yet. There are no reed beds in my little garden so presumably it wandered here from somewhere else. #NorfolkMoths #TeamMoth
Can we finally all agree that the argument “we should run the country like a business, and therefore elect businessmen to run it” has been a failed experiment?

Farage is now on a losing streak. He keeps losing by-elections, his party’s vote share peaked last year and is on a downward trajectory. Most deliciously of all, his vote is fracturing thanks to Restore - which wouldn’t exist if Farage’s ego had let Lowe stay www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Some nice moths this weekend & I do love micros. But these two cracking macros stole the show! Great find yesterday by @mandymyers007.bsky.social the Scarlet Tiger & this Lilac Beauty out of the garden trap was new a moth for us. #moths #norfolk
A really quite incredible 24 hours on the Severnside patch! Avon's first record of Great Shearwater followed Thursday's scarce Pomarine Skua sighting. Then our first ever June record of Leach's Petrel (left) turned up alongside six-plus Euro Stormies. Pics: @severnsidebirds.bsky.social #ukbirding
A few pics from a recent visit up to the Scottish Highlands. Plus spectacular views of a 2 close Golden Eagles during a 20km hike…no camera! 😀
I’m going to enjoy watching the FIFA Club World Cup on TV, but the whole economic model and pricing is a disgrace, is FIFA still as corrupt as ever!? $1000 a game ticket prices??! Plus official FIFA resale of tickets & taking a cut?! Shame on you. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... #FIFACWC

A grand day in northwest Norfolk, with a good movement of passerines along Hunstanton cliffs followed by Great Grey Shrike in the nearby dunes and a fine display of Bog Beacon and my first ever Red-headed Pine Sawfly (a female) in the woods at Dersingham

So all I’ve heard is 6 US serviceman have died on mainstream media. Whatever your opinions on the war, the tragic deaths of school children & teachers in Iran should be equally portrayed. @bbcnews-world-rss.bsky.social @nbcnews.com @nbcnews.com
Extraordinary crowds as a mass funeral procession begins in Minab, Iran for the 165 school girls & teachers killed in the US/Israeli school strike on Saturday. Many outcomes of this war are uncertain. But a renewed generation of hatred towards the West is now baked in. (🎥 Alireza Akbari)

It was good watching the local Pink-feet earlier this week and not too difficult to find some nice Tundra Beans amongst them, especially when there was a total of 18 amongst them! Also 3 Russian White-fronted Geese with this group.
Some decent weather at last! Good to see my local Goshawk population is doing very well, managed at least 3 different males this morning, possibly four! @danmartinwildlife.bsky.social
A good long walk yesterday down Blakeney Point with @mandymyers007.bsky.social proved worthwhile with a Merlin, Great N Diver and this beefcake Glaucous Gull on the end, which unfortunately got flushed before I could get some better pics, real chunky one with a colossal bill.
