Wittercism and crittercism.

I'd been flirty-chatting in a RP-ish way with a cute jackal on Telegram. Then I plugged my phone into my sister's car, which promptly text-to-speeched the next two messages on the car speakers: "Good boyyy" "Imma lick you all over" Sister hasn't stopped cackling yet. But I think I got off lightly!

I tend to think of myself as having a fairly "type B personality" attitude to time, but I do notice when my sister plans to leave at 8 AM but starts running a bath at 7:50.

One of the most destructive fallacies of the purity crowd is that it's immoral to associate with a person who's done immoral things. Which is bullshit. It can just as well be the opposite.

Someone just made certain observations on my personality and mind which, while very pleasant to listen to in their own right, leave me seriously perturbed that I might be in significant danger of passing the Harkness test.

As an impartial self-reflection, without condemning or condoning, it's remarkable how much of my initial emotional reaction to this scenario is, "Thank f***, I probably won't be around to see it." Next step: sublimate that into calm compassionate action, so maybe the next generation won't either.

A climate nightmare lurks in the Atlantic. Europe is starting to pay attention. Just out — my long read on European governments waking up to the threat of a possible collapse of the AMOC, the ocean currents that keep our continent's climate mild: www.politico.eu/article/clim...

I'm standing at a railway station, got a ticket to my destination. 7 am, slight gritty fatigue, dawn breaking, Dortmund to Cornwall. It's nice to be going places. I like this feeling.

"Digger" did not suck. I'm still mulling over what I thought of its deeper themes (which in itself is probably a compliment), but it was weird and fun and original and John Goodman was an absolute hoot to watch.

On seeing a grizzled lean-jawed flight instructor with a kind competent demeanour and thinking, "oo, I wouldn't mind being in his front seat." It's not as smutty as it sounds, I swear!

If you're doing callout posts about artists creating fictional taboo content, you may not consider yourself a fascist, but you are one. You are their stupid tool at the bare minimum. The good news is you can stop doing that at any time

I'm torn. On the one hand, I'm monstrously pissed off with FA and I want accountability for what I understand to be pathological dereliction of user privacy. On the other hand, they're a tremendous and unique community resource run by people busting their arses off to provide a public good.

A lot of people assume FA is profitable. If that were the case we wouldn't have needed a GFM when Neer passed to keep it out of probate. It's been two years. The funds were used. FA is struggling financially. And I am 🌟s t r e s s e d🌟 I'm scared to ask for help, I feel like no matter how much-

Aaand sure enough a trumpeted "terrorist incident" turns out to be some addlebrained twerps without the nous to even pose a plausible major threat. Almost as daft as the US attempts to lay this all at Iran's door. If we must have evil people, could they please try to be a little less fucking stupid?

#ukpol Terrorism suspects released on bail? After 36 hours? Is that a thing you do if you have vanloads of physical evidence of an actual terrorist threat? Or should I lay bets on them being the usual bunch of gormless pillocks with two leaky molotovs and a copy of Sabotage For Dummies?

Here’s the most incredible story you’ll read today. A small plane with four people aboard crashes in a field. Another pilot witnesses it. That pilot happens to be flying a bunch of skydivers. They offer to jump to assist, are given permission. The skydivers happen to be EMTs. Everyone survives.

Skydivers alert emergency crews, assist after plane crashes near East Troy airport

Four people were aboard the single-engine plane when it went down in a cornfield near Carvers School Road in East Troy at about 1:30 p.m.

Trying to replay the supposedly oh-so-good Mass Effect and OMMFG, two-minute unskippable cut scene with multiple obligatory dialogue options that dumps you straight into a boss fight with no option to quicksave ARE YOU KIDDING ME Some things *have* gotten better, you know. Not many. But some.

I might be applying for a German security clearance soon so imma need y'all to lay off the furry porn, hogs, deviancy, weirdness and left-wing radicalism for a few months. (*stifled giggle*)

Talking to someone about their disappointing experiences of a national-level non-furry kink event, and how poorly both the organisation and the public etiquette compared to an ordinary furry convention, and my main takeaway is a reinvigorated appreciation of just how awesome furries are.

This is particularly worth reading because it identifies the threat of AI not just to human creators, but to the entire social and collective institutions we build to foster our creativity.

listening to the Joan Baez my mum loved so much and huge fucking wave of sadness all of a sudden My mum was so wise and she travelled so far and knew so much and had such a keen sense of destiny and beauty and this isn't the life I was meant for.

WAAAAH WHAT THE FUCK oh right, today is the yearly German national disaster warning systems test. With a test alert sent at EXTREME DANGER priority. Rightyho. Got it. System working. Thumbs up. Thanks guys. #twitch

The threshold for probity in politics is not the same as the threshold for conviction. Reform's denials of accepting illegal donations have the same logic as a man in a black eye-mask smirking and saying, "Ha-ha, you can't prove a thing, copper!" #politics #ukpol

If you calculate the fraction of the Sun's energy that human civilisation uses, it's actually within a pretty good handwaving distance of the ratio implied by the term "a fart in a hurricane".
