Our lives. Our families. Our futures. The LGBTQ community has always fought for our right to exist freely. This Pride Month and every other month of the year, we’re protesting the government’s attacks on our rights and celebrating our queer joy.
As a gay academic, #PrideMonth has a personal meaning for me. I stand with queer scholars worldwide whose honesty can still cost them safety, freedom, or careers. Pride means solidarity, memory, and courage. It exists because #queer people before us rebelled and refused to disappear. #LoveisLove

Wonderful news to wake up to this morning as my paper “The Consent to Destroy: Imperial Melancholia and the Hegemony of Fragmentation” has been accepted by Sociological Theory. It also reminds me why 15,000-word limit like in #SociologicalTheory still matters for theory-driven work. #AcademicSky
#Sociology is hugely relevant and it is primary discipline to understand a world changing at brutal speed. But the discipline has softened its public voice out of fear of being labelled activist rather than scientific. Meanwhile, philosophers occupy spaces once shaped by sociologists. #AcademicSky

Proof that sociologists occasionally leave the writing, pause the marking, and see daylight while trying to pose.
Some AI writing is easy to spot because it has no rhytm and remains superficial. But I am cautious about abandoning perfectly good English phrases simply because AI now overuses them. Repetition, contrast, tricolons, and em dashes are all the tools of narrative. And all good writers have used them.
