Utterly late to this, but I am only at Merkel in her late 20s in ‘Freedom’ and this book is already teaching me more about the geopolitics of Europe over the past 20 years than any brainy conference or paper would.
Now that I finally got some time to sit down this year, I am at last diving into this. As a Brussels veteran, I’ve been wary to open it. I have always had a complicated relationship with Merkel’s European legacy. Wonder whether this book will help.
Ok, slightly revising this. Drove at rush hour for the first time today and the pixie thing looks like a piece of cake in comparison. More juicy updates like this one coming soon.

True. Which is even more appalling, because it is a direct translation from French that makes even less sense in other languages.
And it can even be a phallacy, so it appeals to Gen Z and boost some TikTok algorithm

There is a motion of confidence (which should be called a motion of no confidence if we were speaking English in Brussels, but hey) against Ursula von der Leyen going on right now that you probably do not know and do not care about. And rightly so, because it will fail. But
