In a college sociology class in the late 1980s I was assigned a Marxist analysis of education that argued that the US education system is designed primarily to produce efficient workers for the labor market. And now Trump’s Department of Education is just tweeting it out.

This is not a leftist failing, this is a human failing. Can you argue that conservatives don’t want to prove they’re smarter than everyone, condescend constantly or care more about looking right than material improvement? The real difference is we expect leftists to try to listen to other people.

I remember on a flight to France in 2000 I watched some cartoon of a lion and a bird adventuring through the jungle. It had a very comic strip art style and was only vaguely memorable. I thought I had imagined it until @bitterkarella.bsky.social ‘s podcast episode about it and then my mind melted.

Shouldn’t be shocked at any lie RFK Jr tells, but he whined to Dana Bash that businesses were shut down during the pandemic “with no just compensation.” There was an almost trillion dollar PPP loan program, and his organization got millions from it, none of it paid back, to make payroll.
