Then...talk to the player. As adults. The same way you would with any other rude behavior. Don't fucking infantilize them, use language like "playing stupid games", or try to dictate their engagement with a blanket ban.

Most folks don't know, but the question of whether librarian patrons should be able to watch sexually explicit material that qualifies as Constitutionally protected free speech is contended in the profession.

Fun fact: banning porn on the public computers at our library was VERY CONTROVERSIAL— libraries are anti-censorship. They got it through by using labour rights — the staff shouldnt exposed to explicit images at work. But we all know the *real reason* 🫠 (patrons don’t stop at watching)

The connotation-drift on “content” fascinates me. I always thought of it as form vs content — form being “how you’re communicating”, content being “what’s being communicated”, two interrelated aspects of art. Medium, message. But now, “content” usually means ”the uncompensated art between ads”

I've started doing this thing where when people interupt me at work, I stop talking mid-word. I don't start again until explicitly cued or asked a direct question. I just stare. No "uh huh"s, "ok"s or nods. Only stare. This is conversational warfare 🔫🔫
