Made a new collection of pretty chill tunes! Pretty solid background music for drawing or whatever else you get up to. I'm sharing on Bluesky before anywhere else because @tugboatcity.bsky.social is such a great hype man! lastpunch.bandcamp.com/album/garden

New at @comicsjournal.bsky.social: A decade ago, Katie Pryde and her shop BOOKS WITH PICTURES began championing diversity in comics retail with the motto "Comics for Everyone." Now, she talks her near-miss with financial crisis, what she's learned, and what the future the holds.

I made a non-comic thing! It's a video game soundtrack that I made using two Teenage Engineering Pocket Operators (PO-12 and PO-16) and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Give it a listen if you'd like! lastpunch.bandcamp.com/album/lastpu...

Every single app ad these days: "It's like Duolingo, but for..." Okay cool so I'll get a 500 day streak and still not know how to do the thing? GOT IT.

Portland area folks! I'm having a Claudia Claws launch party on Sunday at 2pm, at Books With Pictures! Hope you can make it! Super kid friendly! Exclamation points!

I need coworkers 🫠

Don't think I ever posted about this here, but one of the biggest projects I've ever completed with this mural we did at an elementary school... 2.5 years in the making! If you're curious, you can read all about it here www.breenabard.com/blog/2024/9/...

KidLit publishing and publishing in general feels so hard right now. I know there are days when the urge to throw in the towel is strong. Please don't. Your work matters. There is someone out there who will be changed by your book. Take that small step today. You have no idea how close you are.

Some thoughts on if stories even matter... open.substack.com/pub/breenaba...

And not the one that chewed a larger mouse out of cheese who played music from its own tail, although that mouse was also cool.

I can't scream into the void on twitter anymore so i'll scream into the void here. Stripe has all the money from my book preorders and won't release it to me. They have an inactive bank account on file and won't let me update to a new bank until I verify the old one. WHICH DOESN'T EXIST.

Working on a new workshop that I'm debuting at a library tomorrow :D

Me and a couple pals went to see One Of Them Days last night, super fun movie. But WHY was it all red band horror trailers leading up to it? One after another. We were truly wondering if we walked into the wrong theater.

I don't think I mentioned it here yet--I finished the pencils for my next book!! 287 pages, whew! Hard to pick a sample page that isn't spoiler-y, but here's a tiny peek:

I didn't know what IYKYK meant, I just thought everyone was doing a Popeye/JoeyGladstone style laugh, which kinda fits most of those posts anyway.

I’m subbing in a school library for a few weeks & couldn’t pass up making diary comics of some memorable moments. Here’s the first one! ❤️📚❤️📚 #comics #schoollibrary #libraries #librarian

Sometimes you gotta boost your own work! I'm really excited to bring Claudia Claws into the world, hope you'll check it out! Preorder here:https://www.breenabard.com/store/claudia-claws-preorder

Hey look! I have a new book! Claudia Claws is an all-new, all-ages graphic novel, and I’m so excited to share it with you. This story really surprised me, and honestly kept me grounded this past year. Coming this spring (but you can preorder now on my website!)

I tried to order my husband some Dallas Cowboys merch for xmas. Never arrived so I got on with customer service to see what's up. The "fan assistant" on the chat told me "The package has no movement since the order." To which I say "KINDA LIKE THE COWBOYS OFFENSE, EH?" 😁
