Here’s a detail of a panel from RED PANDA & MOON BEAR 3. This drawing would have been impossible for me to do in book 1. I just didn’t have the skill to pull it off effectively, so I would have written the transformation completely differently, or done something else entirely.

I really enjoyed Hamish Steele's GO-Man. It's campy and sweet in all the right ways. And it totally scratches that Astro Boy/50s-60s manga itch.

I just finished my 20th year as a teacher. I started as a public high school teacher in Miami, a job I got because I wasn't really sure what else to do. And it completely changed my life. It's not an easy job—and it gets harder every year—but my classroom is still my favorite place to be.

In 1999, I bought a bootleg version of Photoshop off Craigslist to use on my friend's good computer so I could make cooler flyers for my band. Whatever version that was is the best Photoshop.
Students in my undergraduate Making Comics course put together their first anthology zine, Personal Space Invader. Our class is tabling at a zine fest this weekend, so they'll also get a taste for all that sweet, sweet zine money.
Full-time college professor, which affords me about 1 day a week to make comics. Two kids. Spouse with a full-time job. I work in small bits here and there. Set realistic goals, one project at a time, assume it will take you longer than you think, find an editor/publisher that gets it (Top Shelf ♥️)

People who make comics on the side while having a fulltime day-job: how do you do it without overworking and/or burning out?
The problem with even a comic writing award is that a significant portion of what you think the writer did was actually done by the artist, or created collaboratively off the page. Read a couple of comic scripts and see for yourself.
