In the 1920s, the rules for baseball's MVP were that previous winners were ineligible. Win one MVP and that's it. I want someone to go back through baseball history and re-decide every MVP Award as though that rule had stayed in place. It'd be fun.

I still say doubling a player off the base should be treated as a force out. I know it ISN'T, but it's dumb that it isn't. It's a force out. Treat is like one and then this weird controversy doesn't happen.

The Blue Jays game today was great because there was a 17 minute delay as the umpires argued over what the fuck just happened. Then they came to a decision that pissed off the 40,000 people in the ballpark. Everyone was angry and confused; it was the purest baseball I've ever seen.

Played my first game of softball in … 25 years (?) tonight. It’s, uh, not like riding a bike. Popup, flyout and walk. But I did make a nifty little catch on a foul ball. So I contributed a little.

Key word there is “maximizing.” Every owner profits, and profits wildly. But they won’t be satisfied until they make the MOST money possible. That’s the annoying part. If I really thought teams were losing money, I’d understand the moves. But it’s just “I’m making, but I want to make MORE.”

I am old enough to remember when the Tigers used to do stuff like trade for David Price when they already had Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander making a ton of money. because they used to have an owner who prioritized winning a World Series over maximizing profits. They can do that, in fact!

Putting aside the fielder thing, I would pay upward of $1 to someone to ask him if he's ever met Shohei Ohtani before, because he certainly doesn't appear to think he has done so, but he certainly has done so.

In the 1995-1996 range, my brother was in college at UMass. He was roller blading around campus one day and accidentally collided with a really tall dude. The guy ended up being okay, but for just a minute, my brother thought he had destroyed Marcus Camby's basketball career.

Reminds me of when Amazon randomly sent me two pairs of Yeezys, a month apart from one another. But I was so unhip and uncool that I didn't know what they were, so I used them as my running shoes for months before I realized what they were and that I could have sold them.

Using AI for tactics or pitch selection is insane. How many hundreds of thousands of games of experience does a big league coaching staff have? How much data do they have at their fingertips on top of that? You think Bougie T9 is going to come up with better heuristics than those guys already have?
